##Job as a State Machine

Jobs are the state machines of the Ultrastructure system. Each job has a current status. The status codes for a given service form a state transition diagram. That is, a given job's status may only move through the allowed transitions

##Job Creation

All jobs are created by agencies. The most direct method is some agency inserts a new Job into the system. In this case, the Job has no parent.

Ultrastructure includes an agency, the Job Animation Software, that deduces jobs from existing jobs.

Animation Software

The Animation Software agency is driven by state changes in the Ultrastructure database via triggers. When a job is inserted, or when a Job is updated, the Job Animation software is triggered to produced jobs from the updated or inserted job. The Animation Software uses the Protocol and Meta Protocol ruleforms to produce new jobs from job state changes in the Ultrastructure system.

Job Insert

When a new job is inserted, the Job Animation Software first logs the insertion. All Jobs are created with the (Unset) status.
