A template variable has a variable begin marker % but does not have an ending % marker.

This is bad:

    "records": [
        {
            "type": "TXT",
            "host": "@",
            "ttl": 1800,
            "data": "%RANDOMTEXT"
       }
    ]

This is good:

    "records": [
        {
            "type": "TXT",
            "host": "@",
            "ttl": 1800,
            "data": "%RANDOMTEXT%"
        }
    ]
