FAQ and Troubleshooting
This page covers common Meta Hunter questions and some basic troubleshooting steps.
If you still need help after trying the suggestions below, see the Support page.
First, make sure Meta Hunter is enabled from the AddOns button on the World of Warcraft character-selection screen.
If you installed or updated Meta Hunter while the game was already running, restart World of Warcraft or use:
/reload
For a manual installation, check that the main addon folder is located at:
World of Warcraft/_retail_/Interface/AddOns/MetaHunter/
Meta Hunter also uses separate expansion modules, which should be installed alongside the main addon.
For more information, see Getting Started.
You can open Meta Hunter using any of the following:
/mh/metahunter- the Meta Hunter minimap button
- the Addon Compartment
If you have hidden the minimap button, /mh and the Addon Compartment will still work.
Each supported expansion uses its own Meta Hunter module.
If an expansion cannot be loaded, check that the corresponding MetaHunter_<Expansion> addon folder is installed and enabled.
For example:
MetaHunter_Midnight
MetaHunter_TheWarWithin
MetaHunter_Dragonflight
Meta Hunter will also display a message in chat when an expansion module cannot be loaded.
If you installed or updated the addon while World of Warcraft was running, try /reload or restart the game.
Midnight's final expansion-wide meta achievement is still being established.
Until the final requirements are confirmed, Meta Hunter focuses on expected preparation and major completion achievements.
The Midnight module may therefore change as new achievements and information become available.
Not every expansion has a single modern expansion-wide meta achievement equivalent to those found in newer expansions.
For older expansions, Meta Hunter instead focuses on useful broad completion goals such as:
- Pathfinder achievements
- Dungeon Glory achievements
- Raid Glory achievements
- Major expansion completion achievements
See Expansion Modules for the current coverage of each expansion.
Meta Hunter relies on achievement information provided by World of Warcraft.
Many achievement requirements are represented as separate achievements and can be displayed individually.
Others use checklist-style criteria rather than separate child achievements. In those cases, Meta Hunter may currently show the parent achievement without listing every individual requirement underneath it.
Older expansion data is also continuing to be reviewed and refined through in-game testing.
If you believe an achievement is genuinely missing or incorrect, please report it through the methods listed on the Support page.
Open Meta Hunter using:
/mh
Then select Settings and make sure Show minimap button is enabled.
The button may also have been dragged to a different position around the minimap.
Remember that the minimap button is optional. Meta Hunter can always be opened using /mh, /metahunter, or the Addon Compartment.
Right-click an achievement row to add or remove it from World of Warcraft's objective tracker.
Some achievements may not be trackable by World of Warcraft at that moment.
If right-clicking does nothing, try opening the achievement with a left-click and checking whether Blizzard's Achievement UI allows it to be tracked normally.
If the problem continues with an achievement that should be trackable, please report it through Support.
Meta Hunter replaced the previous AchTrackWW addon.
The old AchTrackWW retirement folder is no longer included with Meta Hunter.
If your addon manager has left this folder behind:
Interface/AddOns/AchTrackWW/
it can safely be removed.
Meta Hunter now uses the main MetaHunter folder together with its separate expansion modules.
Use World of Warcraft's standard reload command:
/reload
Reloading the UI can be useful after:
- installing or updating an addon;
- enabling or disabling addon modules;
- changing files manually;
- encountering a temporary UI problem.
Open Meta Hunter and select Settings.
Choose:
Reset cached sidebar summaries
This clears the stored progress summaries used by the expansion sidebar.
The summaries will automatically be rebuilt when you open the different expansions again.
This does not reset your other Meta Hunter settings.
Meta Hunter does not currently provide a one-click option to reset every setting.
The built-in reset option only clears cached sidebar summaries.
For most problems, a full settings reset should not be necessary. If you believe your saved settings are causing an issue, contact us through Support before manually deleting World of Warcraft SavedVariables files.
Meta Hunter is still being developed and expanded.
Current limitations include:
- achievement prerequisites are not currently enforced or shown as locked;
- some checklist-style achievement criteria cannot yet be displayed as individual child rows;
- Midnight coverage may change as its final expansion-wide meta is established;
- older expansion data continues to be audited and refined.
These limitations do not prevent normal achievement browsing or tracking, but they may affect how some complex achievement trees are displayed.
