Getting Started
This page covers installing Meta Hunter, opening it for the first time, and getting familiar with the basic workflow.
The easiest way to install Meta Hunter is through CurseForge.
If you install it through an addon manager, no additional setup should be required.
Meta Hunter is designed for the Retail version of World of Warcraft.
If you are installing Meta Hunter manually, extract the release into:
World of Warcraft/_retail_/Interface/AddOns/
A normal installation includes the main addon folder:
MetaHunter
along with separate expansion module folders such as:
MetaHunter_Midnight
MetaHunter_TheWarWithin
MetaHunter_Dragonflight
MetaHunter_Shadowlands
MetaHunter_BFA
MetaHunter_Legion
MetaHunter_WarlordsOfDraenor
MetaHunter_MistsOfPandaria
MetaHunter_Cataclysm
MetaHunter_Wrath
MetaHunter_TBC
MetaHunter_Classic
The expansion modules use World of Warcraft's LoadOnDemand system. This simply means the data for an expansion is loaded when you select that expansion in Meta Hunter, rather than every expansion being loaded when the game starts.
You can open Meta Hunter in any of the following ways:
- Type
/mh - Type
/metahunter - Left-click the Meta Hunter minimap button
- Select Meta Hunter from the Addon Compartment
The minimap button can also be dragged around the minimap to reposition it.
Once Meta Hunter is open:
- Choose an expansion from the sidebar.
- Browse the available achievement categories.
- Expand achievement groups using the
+button. - Left-click an achievement to open it in Blizzard's Achievement UI.
- Right-click an achievement to add or remove it from objective tracking.
When Meta Hunter is opened for the first time and no expansion has been selected yet, it automatically selects the first expansion in the sidebar.
In the current version, that is Midnight.
Each expansion has its own data module.
You do not normally need to manage these individually. Meta Hunter automatically loads the relevant module when you select an expansion.
If an expansion does not appear or fails to load, see FAQ & Troubleshooting.
Meta Hunter replaces the old AchTrackWW addon.
The old AchTrackWW retirement folder is no longer included with Meta Hunter.
If an addon manager has left this folder behind:
Interface/AddOns/AchTrackWW/
it can safely be removed manually.
Meta Hunter now uses the main MetaHunter folder together with its separate expansion modules.
