Reticle and Appearance
The reticle is the small marker displayed directly at your mouse position.
Simple Mouse Cursor lets you choose the reticle style, adjust its size and colour, and control the overall size, transparency, and layering of the cursor graphics.
The available reticles are:
- Dot
- Chevron
- Crosshair
- Diamond
- Flatline
- Star
- Ring
- Tech Arrow
- X
- No Reticle
Choose whichever style is easiest for you to see without becoming distracting.
Selecting No Reticle completely hides the central marker while leaving your configured rings and other effects available.
Use the Size slider to make the reticle larger or smaller.
Range: 0.5 to 2.0 Default: 1.5
Different reticle styles naturally have different shapes and proportions, so two styles may not look exactly the same size even when the slider is set to the same value.
It is worth adjusting the size again after changing reticle style.
Enable Use Class Color for Reticle to tint the reticle using your character's class colour.
For example, a Paladin will use the Paladin class colour while a Shaman will use the Shaman class colour.
When this option is disabled, the reticle uses its normal white appearance.
Simple Mouse Cursor provides separate class-colour options for:
- Main Ring
- GCD
- Cast
This means you can colour each of these elements independently.
For example, you could use your class colour for the Main Ring while leaving the GCD and Cast indicators white.
The Main Ring class-colour option is not used while Main Ring Pulse or Main Ring Rotation is enabled.
Those effects control the Main Ring's colour themselves, so they take priority over the normal class-colour option.
For more information, see Effects.
Cursor Ring Scale changes the overall size of the cursor display.
Range: 0.5 to 3.0 Default: 1.0
This affects the cursor graphics as a group rather than changing only one individual ring.
Use a lower value if the cursor feels too large or intrusive, or increase it if you want the cursor to be easier to locate during busy encounters.
Transparency controls how visible the main cursor graphics are.
Range: 10% to 100% Default: 100%
At 100%, the graphics are fully visible.
Lower values make the cursor display more transparent, which can be useful if you want the indicators available without them covering too much of the game world or UI.
Frame Strata controls where Simple Mouse Cursor sits in relation to other parts of your World of Warcraft interface.
In simpler terms, it determines whether the cursor graphics appear behind or in front of other UI elements.
Available levels are:
BACKGROUNDLOWMEDIUMHIGHDIALOGFULLSCREENFULLSCREEN_DIALOGTOOLTIP
The default is:
BACKGROUND
If your cursor graphics are disappearing behind action bars, frames, or other interface elements, try choosing a higher level.
If Simple Mouse Cursor is appearing over windows or UI elements where you would rather it stayed behind them, choose a lower level.
You usually only need to change this setting if you notice a layering problem.
A good cursor should be easy to find without constantly drawing your attention away from the game.
Try adjusting:
- Your preferred reticle style.
- Reticle size.
- Overall Cursor Ring Scale.
- Transparency.
- Class-colour options.
Changes are applied immediately, so you can adjust the settings while looking at the cursor until you find a combination that works comfortably with your UI.
