Visibility and Modifier Keys
Simple Mouse Cursor can stay visible normally, appear only during combat, or be temporarily shown or highlighted using Shift, Ctrl, and Alt.

Visibility controls and modifier-key actions for Shift, Ctrl, and Alt.
Enable Show only in combat if you only want the cursor graphics visible while fighting.
When enabled:
- the normal cursor graphics are hidden out of combat;
- they appear automatically when you enter combat;
- they hide again when combat ends.
When this option is disabled, the cursor graphics are normally visible all the time unless you configure a modifier key to use Show Rings.
Shift, Ctrl, and Alt can each be assigned their own action:
- When Shift is pressed
- When Ctrl is pressed
- When Alt is pressed
This allows you to use one key for a temporary cursor highlight and another for a different effect.
For example:
- Shift → Show Rings
- Ctrl → Ping with Ring
- Alt → Show Crosshair
Simple Mouse Cursor does nothing when that modifier key is pressed.
Use this if you do not want the key to control any cursor effect.
Temporarily shows your normal Simple Mouse Cursor graphics while the modifier key is held.
This can be used as a push-to-show mode.
If Show only in combat is turned off but one of your modifier keys is assigned to Show Rings, the normal cursor graphics are hidden until you hold that modifier key.
For example:
Shift → Show Rings
would mean the cursor rings remain hidden until you hold Shift.
If Show only in combat is enabled, Show Rings can still temporarily reveal the cursor graphics while you are out of combat.
Creates a short animated ring around your current cursor position.
This is useful when you momentarily lose track of the mouse and want a quick visual highlight without keeping additional graphics on screen.
The effect triggers once when the key is pressed.
Creates a bright area-style highlight around your cursor position.
This provides a more noticeable visual marker than the normal ring ping.
The effect triggers once when the key is pressed.
Creates a large crosshair animation centred on your cursor.
This is intended as a very obvious "where is my cursor?" effect and can be useful during particularly busy encounters.
The effect triggers once when the key is pressed.
Displays the large crosshair for as long as the modifier key is held.
Release the key and the crosshair disappears with its fade effect.
This is useful if you want a strong temporary reference point rather than a one-off ping.
The modifier actions fall into two groups.
These trigger once when the key is pressed:
- Ping with Ring
- Ping with Area
- Ping with Crosshair
You do not need to keep the key held down.
These remain active while the key is held:
- Show Rings
- Show Crosshair
Release the modifier key to end the effect.
Shift, Ctrl, and Alt can all have different actions.
This means you can build combinations such as:
Shift → Show Rings Ctrl → Ping with Ring Alt → Show Crosshair
If more than one modifier is pressed, each configured action can respond independently.
For example, holding a key assigned to Show Rings can keep the cursor visible while another modifier triggers a ping.
Leave Show only in combat off and do not assign Show Rings to a modifier.
The cursor graphics remain visible normally.
Enable Show only in combat.
The cursor appears automatically during combat and remains hidden outside combat.
Leave Show only in combat off and assign:
Shift → Show Rings
The normal cursor graphics remain hidden until you hold Shift.
Enable Show only in combat and assign something like:
Shift → Show Rings Ctrl → Ping with Crosshair
This keeps the normal display combat-focused while still giving you a strong way to locate the cursor whenever needed.
