Recording BlackHole with Cubase
This guide shows you how to record audio from BlackHole in Cubase. Once your audio source is routed to BlackHole, you can record it directly into a Cubase project for editing, mixing, or further production.
This guide assumes that BlackHole has already been configured as the output device for the audio you want to record. For example, your web browser, media player, or another application should already be sending audio to BlackHole before you begin.
Open Cubase and select BlackHole 2ch as your Audio Driver.

Click Create Empty Project or Choose File to resume on an existing project, and start recording. If you are already inside Cubase and want to reconfigure your Audio Driver, you may go to Cubase > Audio Settings.

Add a Track by clicking on the + sign or simply pressing T.

Press Record to start recording the audio sent to BlackHole.

- Make sure BlackHole 2ch is selected as the Audio Driver in Cubase.
- Ensure the application or system audio is actively being routed to BlackHole.
- Restart Cubase after installing BlackHole.
- If BlackHole still doesn't appear, restart your Mac and launch Cubase again.
If **Cubase **cannot access audio input:
- Open System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).
- Go to Privacy & Security → Microphone.
- Make sure Cubase is allowed to access the microphone.
- Restart Cubase if necessary.
