1.21.1 Addons
Version Parity: This guide applies to both Minecraft 1.20.1 (Forge) and Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge). Version-specific differences are noted below.
Addons are items you put in the radar's addon slots. Each one adds a detector: its blips appear on the display next to the story targets. Sneak + right-click the radar to open the addon menu.
- The number of usable slots is the radar tier's slot count (1 to 5 by default); locked slots are crossed out.
- An addon whose minimum tier is above the radar tier cannot be installed.
- Each addon can be installed once per radar. The one exception is the Battery addon: up to 8 fit in one slot.
- Only addon items fit; disabled addons (server config) are refused. A refused addon shows its reason on the slot (locked, not an addon, unavailable, disabled, needs radar tier N, already installed).
- Shift-click merges batteries into an existing battery slot (in 1.20.1 Forge: shift-clicking a stack of up to 8 batteries inserts the whole stack into any open or battery slot at once).
- Every installed addon adds its energy cost to each scan.
- Addons only scan the dimension you are in.
- Admins can change addons with
/signalradar addonusing the same rules. - If an optional mod is removed from a world, its addons are dropped from radars.
Radius grows linearly from radiusMin (at the addon's minimum tier) to radiusMax (at tier 4). A radius of 0 to 0 means "the radar's tier range".
| Addon | Needs | Min tier | Radius, blocks | Refresh, s | FE per scan | Colour |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Container | - | 0 | 24 to 48 | 10 | 10 | #E0A040 |
| Ore | - | 1 | 16 to 32 | 5 | 15 |
#B0B0B0 (fallback) |
| Biosign | - | 1 | 32 to 64 | 1 | 10 | #4CD964 |
| Structure | - | 1 | tier range | 5 | 10 | #40C0FF |
| Motion Tracker | - | 2 | 24 to 48 | 1 | 20 | #FF3030 |
| Manhole | Manhole Travel | 0 | 96 to 160 | 5 | 5 | #C8A050 |
| Lootr | Lootr | 2 | 48 to 96 | 10 | 10 | #B060FF |
| Team | FTB Teams | 1 | whole dimension | 1 | 5 | #40E0D0 |
| Battery | - | 0 | none | none | 0 | none |
The three mod addons only exist as items when their mod is loaded. Every value above can be changed in the server config (section [addons.<name>]).
-
Container: block entities with an inventory (chests, barrels, hoppers, ...) plus any block in the tag
signalradar:container_targets(empty by default). Icon: the block's item. With Lootr loaded, Lootr containers can be skipped by the config keyaddons.container.includeLootrContainers. -
Ore: blocks in the tag
signalradar:ore_targets(default#c:oresin 1.21.1; matches#forge:ores,#c:ores, and#signalradar:ore_targetsin 1.20.1). The blip colour comes from the ore material (a built-in table, extendable withcolorOverrides); same-block neighbours within 2 blocks merge into one blip. Icon: the ore block face. Loaded chunks only. -
Biosign: passive animals and villagers, plus entities in the tag
signalradar:biosign(empty by default). Icon: the mob's face. -
Structure: the nearest instance of each structure type. The types come from the worldgen structure tag
signalradar:scannable_structures; while that tag is empty (default) every structure the current dimension can generate is used (sorted by id, at mostscan.maxScannableStructures, default 64). Setaddons.structure.allWhenTagEmpty = falseto search nothing until the pack fills the tag. Searches are queued and cached, so results can take a moment to appear after the first scan or when you enter a new 256-block region. In 1.20.1 Forge, structure searches run asynchronously on a dedicated daemon thread to prevent server tick freezes. Icon: a map. -
Motion Tracker: hostile mobs (and entities in
signalradar:trackable) that are moving: red pulsing blips and a beep that speeds up as they get closer. From radar tier 3 (addons.motion.stationaryFromTier, 5 = never) still hostiles are shown too, as steady dark red blips without pulse or beep. Icon: the mob's face. - Manhole (Manhole Travel): detects nearby manholes, also in unloaded chunks, same dimension. In 1.20.1 Forge, all nearby manholes (city manholes, home manholes, and open manholes) are detected and rendered with their specific block appearance icon. In 1.21.1, unvisited network manholes are shown.
- Lootr (Lootr): Lootr containers and cart chests you have not opened yet (team aware). Opening one removes it from the radar almost immediately.
- Team (FTB Teams): online members of your team in the same dimension (not yourself). Normal fuzz applies, so exact positions are not given away. Icon: the player's skin face.
-
Battery: detects nothing. Each installed battery adds 10000 FE to the radar capacity (
addons.battery.capacityPerBattery). Radar capacity = base capacity + batteries * that value. Removing batteries clamps the stored energy to the new capacity, the extra FE is lost. It costs no energy and works at every tier.
Blip icons are drawn automatically per addon; see Display and Controls. You can add your own addons with Custom Addons.
