Regions
Part of Map Making Tools
The Regions tool allows you to draw custom polygons to show political, economic, or other areas. Regions are organised into customisable layers. Entire layers, or individual regions within those layers, can have their visibility toggled on or off.

-
Add a new Region Layer from the main sidebar.
Each Region Layer can be edited to add a name.
-
Enable Edit mode to add or edit regions within each layer.
If more than one layer exists, select the region layer that is being edited. The region layer name will change colour to show it is selected.
-
The edit toolbar allows you to:
- Add a new region within the selected layer (which will automatically close any existing region being drawn).
- Set any of your custom Quick Styles or set custom styles for the polygon fill (including a no-fill option) and border.
- Toggle polygon smoothing.
-
Click the canvas to create a node. To close a region, either add a node close to the starting node, click the "Add New Region" button, or exit Edit mode.
Quick Styles for regions are managed in Style Library. Need to restyle several regions at once? See Mass Edit Visual Properties.
