GitHub Education

GitHub Education provides eligible students and faculty with free access to premium development tools and learning resources. Click on your role to learn more.

Important

GitHub Education benefits are entirely optional.

You do not need these benefits to complete your SNHU coursework. Applications and benefits are managed directly by GitHub.

SNHU cannot approve applications, change eligibility decisions, or provide technical support for GitHub Education benefits. For assistance, contact GitHub Support.

GitHub Education benefits do not require you to purchase a GitHub subscription or add a payment method.

1. Prepare to Apply for Benefits

SNHU students and teaching faculty may apply for GitHub for Education benefits. GitHub typically requires proof of employment or teaching assignment.

Students

SNHU students can obtain an Enrollment Certificate that documents their enrollment.

  1. Sign in to mySNHU.
  2. Under Self-Service > Academics, find Request/Review Enrollment Verification.
  3. Follow the instructions to obtain your Enrollment Certificate.
  4. Save the document in a location where you can find it if GitHub requests proof of enrollment.

For more information, see SNHU's Enrollment Verification Instructions.

GitHub may accept other forms of documentation, including an academic transcript, current class schedule, or valid student identification showing current enrollment.

  3. Enter your full name as it appears on your academic verification document.
  4. Complete any other requested billing information accurately.
  5. Save your changes.

Warning

You do not need to add a payment method to apply for free GitHub Education benefits.

Do not add a credit card or other payment method unless you intentionally want to purchase services.

Paid services are not required for your GitHub account setup or coursework.

3. Apply for GitHub Education Benefits

  1. Go to Education Benefits Settings.
  2. Sign in to GitHub if prompted.
  3. Under GitHub Education, select Start an application.

  6. Submit your application.
  7. Return to Education Benefits Settings to review your application status.

Once approved, visit GitHub Education to explore and activate your available benefits.

Tip
