Dzejnik

Dzejnik is an app for exploring important dates and historical events from Poland, and for remembering years and numbers with the Major System.

The Calendar contains 873 curated historical events. Learn is where you memorise dates, practise turning words back into numbers, keep your own saved associations, and read up on the Major systems. Everything you save stays on your device.

What is in the app

  • Main — the selected day and its events, with expandable details and the age of each event.
  • Calendar — a month grid of the historical events. Tap a day to see what happened.
  • Learn — four areas: Learn dates, Learn the system, Saved and Major systems.
  • Options — interface language, Major system, mnemonic word languages, reading aids, hints, saved data, support.

Five Major systems

Dzejnik ships five Major systems and lets you choose the one you learn with. They differ in the word list they were measured against and in what they were tuned for — none of them is "the best".

  • 🕯️ Dzejnik Major — the app's baseline mapping, used by default
  • 🌺 MAX 40k — broad vocabulary coverage over the 40k corpus
  • 🍰 Event 40k — tuned for historical events
  • 🐳 MAX 200k — very high coverage over the 200k corpus
  • 🦣 Event 200k — tuned for historical years and events over the larger corpus

See Major Systems.

Languages

The interface language can be Polish, English, Spanish, Esperanto or Interslavic (in the Latin, Cyrillic or Glagolitic script). The mnemonic word languages — the languages the app draws words from when you are learning — can be Polish, English, Spanish, Esperanto or Interslavic.

These are two separate choices, and changing one does not change the other. See Languages.
