About

Dzejnik is a standalone app for exploring important dates and historical events from Poland (873 events) and for remembering years and numbers with the Major System.

The Major system is a mapping from digits to letters and consonants. Dzejnik uses it as a general way of coding numbers into words and words back into numbers; memorising dates is one of its uses.

What the app does

  • Calendar — the events are placed on the days they happened and marked by type. Tap a day to read what happened, with the "years ago" age shown for each event.
  • Learn dates — turn a year or a number into a mnemonic. The app shows the Major code, suggests words from the dictionaries you selected, and lets you add your own phrase and a short note.
  • Learn the system — the reverse drill: the app shows a word and you type the number it encodes.
  • Saved — every association you have saved, with favourites, a review mode and statistics.
  • Major systems — a reference for the five systems, with each system's full digit assignment, its coverage and what it was tuned for.

Saving always appends a new entry. Saving a second date never replaces the first, and you can keep as many as you like. Each saved entry holds the number, your mnemonic, an optional note, the Major system it was made with, and the language of the word — so two different associations for the same year are two separate entries.

Data and privacy

Saved dates, notes, favourites, statistics and achievements are stored locally on your device. Dzejnik has no user account, no backend, no iCloud or CloudKit sync, and no analytics or advertising SDKs. See Privacy Policy and Data and Export.
