Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 September 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the Dzejnik application handles information, based on the current implementation.
Dzejnik is a local-first app. It does not require a user account and does not use a Dzejnik backend, iCloud, or CloudKit for your saved data. Core features work with data stored on your device.
Depending on how you use Dzejnik, the app may store locally:
- Saved entries: number/year, mnemonic text, optional note (maximum 1024 characters), the Major system the entry was created under, the language of the mnemonic word when it came from a dictionary, whether you starred it, timestamps, and a stable ID;
- Preferences such as your interface language, your selected Major system, your mnemonic word languages, your reading-aid toggles and your adjacent-year hint setting;
- Learning progress: answer counts, correct answers, accuracy, streaks and sessions from the learning drills, and the dates on which achievements were unlocked;
- Your private app rating, if you set one;
- other on-device settings needed to run the app (for example, whether the one-time launch experience has been completed, the date the app was first launched, and whether the review question has already been offered).
The app also includes bundled historical content and Major System word lists. That content ships with the application; it is not personal data you create.
- Dzejnik does not upload your saved mnemonics, learning progress or calendar browsing history to a Dzejnik server (there is no Dzejnik account or backend in the app).
- Export is user-initiated: you choose where to send or save a JSON file through the system share sheet / Files UI (for example Mail or AirDrop). That transfer is controlled by you and by the destination you pick — not by automatic sync.
- Import is user-initiated: you pick a file; the app validates it before merging into local storage.
- Opening an optional App Store link to Digmitto or an http(s) source link inside an event (when an author provided one) uses the system browser / App Store and is initiated by you.
- Rate in App Store uses Apple's own rating and review mechanism. Dzejnik cannot choose whether a prompt appears or what score you give it.
- If you email support, the contents of that email are processed only to respond to your request.
The current Dzejnik implementation does not integrate analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or tracking pixels for app usage telemetry.
- No user account system.
- No iCloud / CloudKit sync of saved mnemonic data or learning progress.
- You can delete individual saved entries inside the app.
- Removing the application from the device deletes the app's local storage on that device (including saved entries, preferences and learning progress), subject to normal operating-system behaviour.
Export creates a file of your saved entries (not the bundled historical dataset). Anyone who receives that file can read its contents. Treat exports like any other personal document.
Dzejnik is an education/history utility. It does not target children with advertising or social features. Use of the app by minors should follow Apple's age rating and parental guidance for your region.
