Config Center and Config Files

F6 config center

Press F6 in game to open the config center. Almost every setting can be changed there; hovering over an option shows its description.

  • Client settings (HUDs, compact status effects, scrolling and so on) only affect your own client.
  • Server settings (spawn, first-join rewards, gameplay tweaks and so on) are decided by the server; changing them on a multiplayer server requires operator permission.
  • Options marked "takes effect after restart" need a game or server restart once saved.

Config files

All config files are in config/kineticcore/.

Data pack and resource pack directories

Custom data loaded by KineticCore is under config/kineticcore/datapack/:

Path Contents
data/ Custom data packs; Open core data packs on the failure page opens this directory.
resources/ Custom client resources, such as translations and textures.
pack_order.toml Data pack and resource pack loading order.

A world's own data packs are in its datapacks/ directory. When singleplayer loading fails, you can read the pack and file diagnosis, locate the file or archive, and temporarily retry without the identified faulty local packs. Leaving and reopening the world loads the original packs again. Dedicated servers report errors in their logs only. See Data Pack Recovery.

Startup feature switches

startup_features.toml (also F6 → Startup feature switches) turns whole features off; changes need a restart. Features that can be switched off include:

  • Client/server flight and noclip control, crawling
  • Custom world spawn, world management (recycle bin)
  • Bee behaviour, size and rendering fixes, mob despawn tweaks
  • Client/server recipe book removal
  • Server TPS sampling, damage indicator particle removal, GPU resource cleanup
  • Compact status effects, default client options, client screen and flow tweaks, reading items in containers
  • Larger network protocol limits, attribute range extension

Modpack makers can switch off a KineticCore feature here when another mod already provides the same thing.

Numeric controls use short, fixed-width fields. List-edit buttons also keep a fixed width; long text scrolls within the control.
