The starter device. A crude cave finder.

Recipe

C G C      C = cobblestone, blackstone or cobbled deepslate
C T C      G = glass pane
C C C      T = torch

The recipe unlocks when you pick up cobblestone.

What it shows

• 32×32 blocks, black and white on a black background.
• Caves (black), water (mid grey), lava (blinking).
• No ores.
• You as a stick figure.

Its faults

• The picture lags behind when you walk.
• It flickers and buzzes now and then.
• No module slots.

Fuel

One coal or charcoal per 4 minutes of scanning (adjustable), taken from your inventory when it runs dry. Only burns while the cut is shown. The durability bar shows the coal that is burning now.

Upgrade

Smithing table: torch + Stone CRT + Copper Picture Tube → Copper CRT.
