Releases: LeZed97/ZedSuite
Release list
ZedSuite 1.1.7
ZedSuite comes to macOS, the power estimate moves into the editor, and the DTCs of the compact EDC15 software (012K and friends) can be switched. Plus the fixes from the reports on 1.1.6.
New: macOS
- ZedSuite runs on macOS 12 and later, Apple Silicon and Intel, from one universal app. Download the disk image, drag the app to Applications. There is no Apple developer account behind it, so the first launch goes through System Settings > Privacy & Security > "Open Anyway" once; the Terminal one-liner in the README installs without that step.
- Updates work like on Windows: the app downloads the new version, swaps itself in Applications and relaunches. Projects live in ~/Library/Application Support/com.zedperf.zedsuite.
- Native title bar with the traffic lights, the rest of the interface is the same as on Windows.
New: power estimate in the editor
- A Power button next to Solutions and DTC opens the estimate as a floating window in the workspace, with the same rules as a map window (drag, resize, focus). It reads the live state of the version you are editing: unsaved changes included, a Refresh button recomputes on demand, and saving recomputes as well.
- Curves start at 1900 rpm: below that, the model overestimates what the engine can actually deliver.
- The window can never be narrower than the codeblock summary line, and opens at the height of its content.
- The Compare button moved next to Power in the same block. The compare dialog now says what it does: binary comparison of two versions; comparing the maps of two versions in one window is in development.
New: DTCs on the compact EDC15 software
- The DTC window works on the software that stores its fault table per fault path instead of per code: EDC15VM 038906012K, 012L, 012AA, 012AP, 012CP and EDC15P 019AJ, 019AN. Reported on a 012K.
- On these, a code is switched with the codes sharing its fault path (the same sensor or actuator); the window says so. The 1999 019A software still shows "table layout not supported", with the real ECU family named.
Fixed: detection
- EDC15VM (issue #10): the single SOI map is kept on tuned files (injection quantity axis accepted up to 100 mg), and the MAP/MAF switch is found on every VP37 software, it was missing on some. Before 1.1.6 a few of these maps were false positives; 1.1.6 detected the real ones but not all of them.
- EDC15P VCDS diagnostic maps: plain descriptions, the display scaling maps named for what they are, and the IQ scaling found on the early PD software where it sits at another offset.
Fixed: editor and windows
- The zoom buttons of the 3D preview apply again.
- Editor zoom: 5 % steps, a value can be typed by clicking the percentage, always between 60 and 100 %. The zoom could get stuck at 85 % after a window resize.
- A focused or dragged map window now passes over the preview and power windows.
- The Power and Compare buttons keep the size of the Solutions and DTC buttons.
- The animated background is skipped when WebGL cannot render (virtual machines, remote desktop, hardware acceleration off) instead of taking the page down.
ZedSuite 1.1.6
Fixes from the first reports on 1.1.5: launch control activation, imported versions kept on disk, the editor on small or half-size windows, and a few EDC15 detection details.
Fixed: solutions and versions
- Launch control (EDC15P/EDC15VM): the activated speed axis was written with its value count in the wrong byte order, so the map looked right in the app but the ECU ignored it. If you activated it with a previous version, apply the solution again after updating. Reported on a 038906019HJ.
- A version created by importing a file now keeps that file on disk with the project. Before, it only lived in memory: after closing the project the version reopened on the original file.
- A multimap imported as a version of a stock project now shows the codeblock it adds: the imported file is detected on import and the maps of the codeblock the original does not have follow that version, hidden on the others.
Fixed: detection (EDC15)
- VCDS Diagnostic MAP Limit: read unsigned with a 0.1 factor in mbar. 40200 (4 bar sensor) showed -25336; it now reads 4020, a 3 bar sensor 2996, and 6529.8 in a stock file means no clamp.
- Selector for injector duration: still detected when one of its SOI thresholds was edited out of order in a tuned file (multimap Golf 4, one codeblock lost its selector).
- EDC15VM MAP/MAF switch: found by the same byte structure as on EDC15P, value 0 = MAF, 257 = MAP. The previous guess pointed into an empty area on some software (012L, Jetta) and missed a real switch set to MAP. Software without that structure shows no switch instead of a wrong one, and the completeness check no longer expects it on the VM.
- EDC15VM single-SOI software (012L, 012M...): the two small 14x7 maps shown as "Start of injection" next to the real one are timing corrections, not SOI maps, and are no longer listed. The 16x13 "Start of injection (N108 SOI)" is the SOI.
- EDC15VM single-SOI software: the main SOI ("Start of injection (N108 SOI)") is now read in hundredths of a degree like EDCSuite does, 11 to 16 degrees on a 012M instead of 26 to 37. The IQ by MAP limiter's boost axis reads 800 to 2000 mbar instead of 8 to 20 mg/st, and the IQ by MAF airflow axis is in mg/st with the EDC15P factor.
- Open projects are re-detected automatically.
Fixed: window and zoom
- The editor zoom now follows the window: when the window gets too narrow for the toolbar and the map list (Windows snap to half a screen, laptops at 150 % scaling), the zoom is lowered so everything stays reachable. It never goes back up on its own, the + button does that. Minimum zoom 60 %.
- The window never asks for a minimum size wider than the screen or the snap area.
- Map windows and the hexdump are pulled back inside the workspace when it shrinks, and a new map window never opens larger than it. A map wider than the workspace (torque limiter, 21 columns) can be slid to the left behind the map list until its close button is visible.
Updates
- From this version on, the installer downloaded by the app runs on its own: a progress bar, no pages to click, settings kept, and the app restarts when it is done. The update from 1.1.5 to 1.1.6 still shows the installer once.
ZedSuite 1.1.5
Early EDC15P software, edits written where you see them, EDC16 durations the right way up, a public roadmap and a lot of small fixes reported on the forum.
Detection
- EDC15P early PD software (1999-2002: 038906019A, 019AJ, 019AN...) is now supported: three memory layouts recognised (standard 64 KB blocks, compact 48 KB blocks, early 32 KB blocks), codeblock numbers read from the file, maps classified by axis shape and values since these ECUs use other axis identifiers. Single SOI map with its corrections, SOI limiter, Start IQ, durations 00-05, EGR, IQ limiters, boost maps, N75... A 019AJ goes from 105 to 171 maps, a 019A from nothing to 216.
- EGR hysteresis on every EDC15P (two curves per codeblock), added to the completeness check.
- EDC15P: the EGR of the early software was a flat second table; the real one, skipped by the scanner because of an empty header in front of it, is now found.
- EDC16: "Fuel correction by exhaust gas temp" detected on the PD software (BEW, Superb MK1, most 03G906021AN) where the grid is left at its neutral value. 85 maps gained on the bench, nothing lost.
- EDC16: duration blocks stored from the highest RPM down (U34 software 1037376704) are displayed the right way up.
- EDC15P: injector duration 05 oriented like the other durations on the 10x10 and AXR 6L variants, with the proper axis labels.
- EDC16: the completeness check accepts files with a single N75 duty cycle map (some U31 like the BEW have only one).
Fixed: editing and saving
- Edits on maps displayed transposed (torque limiter, IQ by MAF/MAP, EGR 13x16) were written to the wrong cells from the second row on. Export, checksum and copies to similar maps were affected. The map viewer and the editor now share one cell layout. Reported by kults on a 019GQ.
- All EDC16 injection duration maps were shown mirrored (long durations at the bottom): a guard in the viewer flipped them back after aligning them. Reported by tunechip.
- N75 duty cycle values are kept between 0 and 100 %, other maps within what their raw type can store (values beyond wrapped around and came out negative in WinOLS).
- "Restore original" on an axis clears the previous edited labels.
- Each map edit keeps the display orientation it was made in, so reopening a project applies it on the right rows and the saved checksum stays valid.
- "Save and correct checksum" corrects the in-memory state first, then saves once.
- Editor zoom: the stored zoom was sometimes lost when opening the editor (display back at 100 % while the toolbar still showed the stored value). Zoom requests are now serialised and the editor re-applies its zoom once opened.
Fixed: checksum and export
- EDC15P checksum: the variant is chosen from the V4.1 signatures. The compact layout (019AJ) now gets its 7 checksums right; a layout the app does not know (019A) is left untouched and reported as unsupported instead of being corrupted.
- Mappack export: every map is described with its real file layout and axes (EGR 13x16 exported as 16 rows x 13 columns, torque limiter EDC15 as 3 x 21, IQ by MAF/MAP as 16 x 13). The EGR of a Superb opened scrambled in WinOLS.
- Mappack export: the codeblock number is part of the map name on EDC15, like in the app; the Other folder stays last (Z-Other); 1D maps are exported as one row with their X axis; no more "one export per project" limit.
- Green confirmation when the binary file is exported, like the mappack.
New
- Public roadmap: a button next to the help button on the dashboard opens it in the app language, read from GitHub so it stays current. The roadmap lives in ROADMAP.md (and its translations) in the repository.
- About window: real app version and a link to every release, also in the update dialog.
- Zoom buttons on the 3D view of a map window; the Preview is unavailable when the map is already in 3D.
- Import screen: brand, year (1999-2009), transmission and stage use the app dropdowns.
- Torque limiter of the 03G906016JD (U31), Expected Fuel Temp and Fuel Volume Correction on EDC16U1, no more "Load"/"Value" titles on the 2D graphs.
- Animated editor backgrounds no longer stutter on every edit: the edited bytes are rebuilt after the cell is drawn and the background layer is kept as is.
- Dashboard: the size of the projects folder is shown next to the file count, the number of projects per page is kept while the app is open (back to 7 on the next launch), and the window has the same minimum size as in the editor.
- Power estimate PDF: the date follows the app language in Spanish, Italian and German too (the texts were already translated).
ZedSuite 1.1.4
Percent edits, a copy/paste that lands where you see it, saves that keep every map, and a lot more maps on EDC16.
New
- Percent mode for the modify pill (Add / Fill / Percent): the +/- keys, the Zap button and the cell context menu apply a percentage of the current value, and the menu shows the unit ("+5%"). Increase/Decrease are disabled while the pill is on Fill.
- The hexdump opens in 16-bit with the byte order of the ECU (LoHi on EDC15, HiLo on EDC16), like WinOLS. 8-bit stays one click away.
- The settings page uses the same wallpaper as the dashboard, custom image included.
- DTC window: disabled DTCs can be re-enabled (EDC15 and EDC16), the control byte goes back to its original value. On EDC16 some codes share the same control byte in the ECU table and switch together.
- The similar maps dialog shows the address of each map, and numbered families (Start of injection 00-09, Maximum Vehicle Speed 1-5, EGR hysteresis, GEAR 1-2…) are proposed to each other.
Fixed: saving
- Saving several modified maps at once (similar maps, copy/paste, manual edits on more than one map) could keep the modifications of a single map, or none. The per-map writes overwrote each other. Fixed: every map keeps its modifications.
- A modification you removed (a re-enabled DTC, a cell back to its original value) could come back after reopening the project, and the checksum became wrong again: a save now writes the complete state of the version in one go instead of appending to the previous saves.
- Background re-detection never replaces the map list once you started editing.
Detection (EDC16)
- EGR desired-air-quantity maps must contain real air-mass values: on some U34 software the three "Start of injection GEAR" maps of each block were claimed as EGR maps, which blocked the detection of two whole SOI blocks. A Golf 5 1.9 TDI goes from 157 to 180 maps (14 to 43 Start of injection maps), a Jetta BXE from 14 to 43 SOI maps.
- EGR hysteresis: units with a garbage RPM axis are no longer kept.
- EDC16U31: Driver Wish blocks whose program selector points every slot to the same program are now detected (US BEW software, +14 maps). "Ori BEW" goes from 79 to 96 maps.
- EGT sensor linearisation maps (U1/U31/U34): the table started 4 bytes too early on some software (header included). Fixed, with the U1 tolerances ported to U31/U34.
- Start of injection (Dynamic): one name and one numbering on U1, U31 and U34, candidates validated against the real SOI profile (no more all-negative "dynamic" maps).
- Smoke Limiter by MAF: the X axis is air mass (300..1000 mg/stroke), it was shown ten times too large.
- Expected Fuel Temp: values are Kelvin, the -273.15 offset was missing (317..376 degC became 44..103 degC).
- Duration Selector: its real axis is now shown, the six start-of-injection thresholds (deg) that select the Duration map.
- Existing projects are re-detected automatically at opening.
Fixed: editor and dashboard
- Copy/paste between maps: the block is copied as displayed and pasted from the cell you selected, whatever the orientation of each map (flipped RPM axis, mirror, transposed view). Previously the bottom row could land on top.
- Full screen: widening the map list no longer kicks the window out of the maximized state.
- A map window resized by hand keeps its size when you switch maps and come back (text and EasyView).
- Preview window: the 3D orientation is kept when you click on a table cell.
- Mappack export: no numeric prefix on the folder names (it broke the WinOLS folder sorting).
- Custom wallpaper: lighter veils, tiles and search bar readable in dark themes, every secondary text and icon white (dark) or black (light) on a custom image.
- Light theme: modified maps stay readable in the map list, delete confirmation dialog, settings window above the hexdump search window.
- Hexdump search window: byte-order chip in amber; unified 8b/16b/HiLo/Hex/Dec pill in the compare window.
ZedSuite 1.1.3
More maps, and your display choices follow you into the mappack.
New
- SOI selector map on EDC15P and EDC15VM (software with the temperature selector), in the Start of injection folder.
- BIP maps: EDC15P (BIP temperature correction, BIP SOI correction) and EDC16 U1/U31/U34 (BIP fuel temp correction, BIP basic characteristic, BIP multiple correction where the file has it), in the Injection system folder. EDC15VM has no BIP maps (VP44 rotary pump).
- The sort order of the map list is now saved with the project and applied to the mappack export. Mirrored axes (map Properties) are applied to the mappack export too. The row/column orientation toggle cannot be represented in the WinOLS JSON format, so it stays a display choice.
- The hexdump search window now shows the byte order (HiLo / LoHi) next to 8b/16b and Hex/Dec.
- Custom wallpapers: lighter veil on the dashboard and in the editor workspace, same rendering on both.
Fixed
- Light theme readability: search bar, titles and counters, pagination, folder icons, delete button, mappack completeness badge.
- SOI selector display: index axis 1..N instead of fake degC/rpm axes.
- Existing projects are re-detected automatically to get the new maps.
ZedSuite 1.1.2
Follow-up fixes to 1.1.1.
Fixed
- Automatic map re-detection of existing projects did not run when the detection engine had been updated (the request was cancelled during loading). Projects created before 1.1.1 are now re-detected at opening.
- EDC16 EGR hysteresis maps are decoded as signed even on a project that has not been re-detected yet.
- The HiLo / LoHi button is now always visible in the 8b/16b pill, and the minimum window width was adjusted so the toolbar no longer overlaps the window controls.
- EDC16 ECU reference: commercial vehicle part numbers (0xx997xxx, Crafter, T5) are now recognised, so those projects show their hardware reference. Note: the reference is read when the project is created.
ZedSuite 1.1.1
Fixes and additions from the first community feedback (thanks to the ecuconnections testers).
Fixed
- EDC16 N75 duty cycle maps: the factor was 0.012207 (100/8192) on U1, U31 and U34; the correct one is 0.01, verified on the bench (the "no gear" maps are flat at raw 7500 = the well known 75%). Existing projects are re-detected automatically.
- EDC16 EGR hysteresis maps are now signed 16-bit: the 65535 values you saw were really -1.
- The 16-bit hexdump always read values as LoHi, which is wrong on EDC16: it now follows the ECU byte order by default.
New
- Keyboard editing in the map tables: arrow keys move the active cell, Ctrl+arrows extend the selection (same modifier as Ctrl+click), Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V copy and paste the selection.
- HiLo / LoHi toggle in the 16-bit hexdump, in the editor and in the version compare window.
