Signals from WAV files

QA40xPlot has the ability to use any WAV file as the source signal through your QA40x analyzer. This is (almost) as simple as just entering it into the dialog. In fact, in Spectrum and Oscilloscope you get a waveform choice.

Select WaveFile from the list then click the Eighth-Note button and select a WAV file. Then it will look like this->

There is some processing done to the file to make it fit into your selected FFT Size and Sample Rate. The wave is resampled to your sample rate and the size is either trimmed to fit the FFT Size or padded with silence to fill the FFT Size. Also, the waveform is scaled so that the maximum RMS amplitude is your selected generator voltage.

If the WAV file is stereo then each stereo channel is sent to the corresponding generator channel of the QA40x.

Remember the total sweep time is FFT Size / Sample Rate seconds.

To try this out it is probably simplest to use the Oscilloscope where you can see the waveform.
