Distribution formats are a Debian package for 64-bit Linux and a 64-bit Windows installer. Photo Album can also be run from the source tree with Python 3.11 or later.

Debian package

Download the v0.3.0 package, photo-album_latest_amd64.deb, from the GitHub downloads page, then install it with your usual package installer or:

sudo apt install ./photo-album_latest_amd64.deb

The package installs the desktop application and these commands:

photo-album
pa
photo-album-cli

The package currently targets the amd64 architecture.

Windows installer

Download the v0.3.0 installer, PhotoAlbum-latest-Windows-x64-Setup.exe, from the GitHub downloads page and run it. The installer supports English and French, installs the application for 64-bit Windows, and can optionally create a desktop shortcut. Administrator privileges are required by the current installer.

Run from source

The application requires Python 3.11 or later. From a clone of the repository on main:

python -m pip install --upgrade pip
python -m pip install -e .

On Windows, create the environment with py -3 -m venv .venv, then activate it in PowerShell with .\.venv\Scripts\Activate.ps1 before running the same pip commands.

Use photo-album --language fr or photo-album --language en to force the interface language. Without this option, French is selected for a French system locale; English is used for all other locales. A .photoalbum project path can be passed as the final argument.
