• --enable-linger, --require-linger, and --no-linger-prompt make the always-on policy explicit. --yes does not grant linger permission, and uninstall never disables linger.
• Actanara refuses to overwrite or remove systemd units without its management marker.
• macOS continues to use the existing verified launchd transactions; the shared service interface does not replace or weaken them.
• Linux support in this release is the x86_64 fresh-install Core boundary. Existing-install upgrade/repair and local-embedding expansion remain outside this boundary.

Security and compatibility

• Runtime secret files are excluded from backups; sensitive settings are redacted and unsafe targets, traversal, symlinks, device files, insufficient space, and partial publication are rejected.
• The backup feature supports backup and verification only; restore is intentionally not implemented in this release.
• Actanara v1.1.0 Runtime data is preserved through additive contracts. Former Open Nova Runtime data remains outside the supported compatibility boundary.

Open Nova v1.0.2 makes stable updates incremental, reproducible, and explicit about what actually happened.

Highlights

• Reuses the active Runtime venv when the complete dependency contract is unchanged. This path performs no pip operation and no dependency download, while atomically promoting the new source generation and preserving rollback.

• Rebuilds dependencies only in a separate candidate venv when the exact contract changes, using a hash-verified Runtime lock and a persistent, ownership- and permission-checked wheel cache.

• Writes an immutable dependency manifest and normalized fingerprint for every new venv generation, covering Python ABI, platform, architecture, selected profiles, direct requirements, the complete lock hash, and resolved distributions.

• Adds --source-only, --force-rebuild, and --offline update controls, plus human and JSON results derived from the actual transaction.

• Publishes a version-neutral install.sh Release asset so the stable installer is now:

Upgrade notes

• A Runtime created by v1.0.1 has no trusted dependency marker, so its first update to v1.0.2 conservatively builds one new candidate venv. The old generation is retained. Subsequent updates with an unchanged dependency contract reuse that venv with zero pip work.
• The active source manifest is the Runtime product-version authority. A reused venv may retain older open_nova-*.dist-info; Open Nova does not mutate an active venv merely to refresh product metadata.
• Unsupported lock targets, damaged or untrusted markers, incompatible source-only requests, and offline cache misses fail before managed services are stopped or active pointers are changed.

Verification

• 1,501 isolated tests: 0 failures, 0 errors, 8 reviewed expected skips.
• Two independent clean-checkout Release builds produced byte-identical artifacts.
• The frozen official Runtime artifact completed an isolated fresh-install E2E with a valid dependency marker and verified persistent cache.

What changed

• Managed Dashboard, watchdog, nova-RAG, and Scheduler jobs are normalized to
  stable Runtime source and venv pointers during update.
• Fresh installs and full upgrades now publish store-confined relative source
  and venv pointers for the same release generation, with exact transactional
  rollback of legacy pointer forms.
• Dashboard and nova-RAG health provenance must match the candidate's exact
  full source commit before an update can commit.
• Update selection fails closed for a Release explicitly marked WITHDRAWN,
  as well as draft, prerelease, missing, malformed, rate-limited, abbreviated,
  symbolic, and non-commit selections.

• Two independent frozen-source suites: 1,419 run / 0 failures / 0 errors /
  2 expected skips per run.

one-liner targets in this release line.

Caution

Withdrawn on 2026-07-13. Do not use v1.0.0 for installation or upgrade.

Post-publication, real GitHub/launchd end-to-end validation found that an
upgrade can report success after switching the active source and virtual
environment while managed Dashboard and nova-RAG services continue running
code from an older release path. This can leave background services on old
code with new dependencies, so fixes delivered by the update may not take
effect.

Fresh-install behavior was not observed to trigger this defect, but v1.0.0 is
no longer recommended for any installation path. The correction will be
released under a new version; v1.0.0 will not be republished or reused.

Immutable-release integrity

• The v1.0.0 tag has not been moved or replaced.
• Published assets and checksums have not been modified.
• The original public commit and release attestation remain intact.
• A corrected release will use a new commit, tag, version, artifacts, and
  checksums.

Original release scope

Open Nova v1.0.0 was the first public source release of the local AI operations
runtime. It included Foundation, Dashboard, Nova-Task, optional nova-RAG,
guarded installation and updates, migration compatibility data, and English
and Chinese operator documentation.

The frozen release recorded two accepted full-suite runs of 1,370 tests with
0 failures, 0 errors, and 2 expected skips. The post-publication real-service
provenance defect described above was not covered by that matrix and overrides
the earlier Release Ready conclusion.

Open Nova is licensed under GPL-3.0-or-later and publicly attributed to
Neo-Isshin.
