My mushroom does not grow.
It is probably too bright. Resource mushrooms stop growing where the light level is 11 or more (including sunlight, at any time of day). Grow them underground or under a roof. With Jade, look at the mushroom: it says "Too bright to grow!". Also check that it sits on a spore soil (Mycelium or one of the Spore Nexus mycelium blocks).
I cannot place the mushroom.
Same reasons: it needs a spore soil under it, and a light level under 11.
Nothing mutates.
Both parents must be fully grown, within 2 blocks of each other, and there must be a free spore soil block (with air above it, and a light level of 7 or less) next to both. Chances are low (2% to 10%), the roll happens each time the growing parent finishes growing. Jade shows the status. See Mutations.
How do I get a mushroom that has no mutation?
The base mushrooms (Dirt, Sand, Gravel, Stone, Ice and Netherrack) cannot be mutated: make them at the Spore Nexus Altar. Every other mushroom can be made at the Altar too. See Machines.
The harvester does not collect anything.
It collects fully grown mushrooms in its area (3x3x3 for the basic harvester, one block above and below it), every 5 seconds. Check that its inventory is not full (Jade shows it). Another bigger harvester covering the same mushrooms may take priority.
My pipe does not connect to the harvester.
Make sure you use the latest version of Spore Nexus on both the client and the server, and that your pipe mod supports item transfer for modded blocks. You can only take items out of a harvester.
Where do I get Fungal Essence?
By harvesting any resource mushroom (45% chance, 1 or 2 per harvest). Get your first resource mushroom at the Altar.
Can I use this in a modpack?
Yes. See Modpack & custom integration: you can add your own mushrooms with one JSON file, and recipes are normal data.
Mushrooms added to my config do not appear.
Restart the game: new blocks are registered at startup. On a server, the server and every client must use the same
custom_mushrooms.json.
