Liner Notes 0.7.48
- Settings > Phone screen > Turn the phone screen off: after 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes with nothing playing and no music heard (or with listening turned off), a phone plugged in over USB turns its screen off. It comes back on with the next song, or when you turn listening back on. Set it from the PC; it doesn't need to be set on the phone.
- If the phone's own microphone is doing the listening, its screen only turns off while listening is turned off, since a phone with its screen off can't hear the next record.

- Turn listening off: a microphone button at the top of the main screen turns listening off until you turn it back on, even after a restart. While it's off the button shows a crossed-out mic, and the screen between records says "Listening is off" with a button to turn it back on. Spotify and other apps on the PC still show.
- The same switch is in Settings > Microphone > Listen for music.
- Settings no longer has the "This screen" heading or the note under the title.

- Settings are reorganized into clear sections, with every option kept:
- This screen: text size, lyrics beside the art, fullscreen, what the main screen shows, what shows between records, and the song page.
- Listening: records, CDs and tapes (what's playing them, following the album), apps on this PC, and the microphone.
- Stylus, Phone screen, Accounts (Spotify and Last.fm), and About.

- Record skips: while a record plays, Liner Notes listens for the groove looping (the same turn of the record repeating, about every 1.8 seconds at 33 or 1.3 at 45) and quietly notes which song skipped. Nothing pops up while you listen.
- Your shelf shows it: an album's page says how many times it skipped and in which songs, and a record that keeps skipping (the same song on different days, or several skips) gets a small "Skips often" note with a suggestion to clean it and check the stylus before replacing it.
- Shelf covers line up again when some captions run to two lines.

- Following a record: a quiet stretch partway through a song no longer jumps to the next track. A gap only switches right away near the end of a song whose length is known; otherwise Liner Notes checks with Shazam first and moves on only if it's not the same song.
- If a song's quiet passages fooled it once, it remembers that for the rest of the record and always checks with Shazam before leaving that song.
- When a tracklist doesn't list a song's length, Liner Notes gets it from Apple Music.
- Putting the needle back down partway through a side counts the song from there, instead of jumping ahead a few seconds later.
- The medium (Vinyl, CD, Cassette...) is now its own button next to the song. Tap it to change what you're playing on; the record and the songs already played from it switch too. The side and track ("Side B · 3 of 5") sit beside it as plain information.

- Compilations: when two songs in a row are by different artists, Liner Notes looks for the compilation that has both, in order (Apple Music first, then Discogs), and follows its tracklist.
- If it can't find one, a card asks "A compilation?" with Find it (record search, started from the first song), Name it (type the album's name), or Not a compilation. A named album keeps its songs together, including the ones already played, on your shelf too, until the music stops for 20 minutes. Record search also has a "Can't find it?" box to name it.
- Best-ofs vs. studio albums: when Shazam names a greatest hits or compilation release, Liner Notes follows the original album first, and the next song settles which one is really playing. Any guessed album gets re-checked when a song turns up out of order.
- Singles and 45s: a song Shazam lists as a single follows the single (a 7" from Discogs when there's one), with an A side and a B side on vinyl, so it tells you to flip for the B side.
- Your shelf marks singles (45 on vinyl), EPs, best-ofs and compilations.
Liner Notes 0.7.42
- Your shelf: a new button in the toolbar shows every record, CD and tape you've played, added automatically the first time Liner Notes knows what's playing. Radio and apps on the PC don't count.
- Filter by vinyl, CD or tape; sort by recently played, most played, artist, or not played lately; search by album, artist or label.
- Tap an album to see when you first and last played it, how many times, and the songs you've heard from it (tap a song for its page). Remove anything you don't own or that was matched wrong, with Undo. It stays in your listening history.
- Compilations followed from their tracklist (like Vinyl Moon) stay together as one album, and "Rumours" and "Rumours (2004 Remaster)" count as the same record.

- Settings > Microphone > Listen with: pick which microphone hears your records (Windows default, the phone's mic, a webcam, a USB input or line-in). Liner Notes restarts to switch. The tray's Microphone menu still works too.
Liner Notes 0.7.40
- Recognition: the audio sent to Shazam goes back to how it was before 0.7.28, just turned up, without the filtering and compression added then. Clips are 10 seconds.
- Listen now records 10 fresh seconds after you click it, instead of sending what it had already heard, and waits out Shazam's "try again in 12 seconds" so it doesn't get an automatic no match.
- The Listen now button only shows when a song couldn't be identified.

- More like this: band names line up whether or not the band has a picture, and each band gets a little more room so the Spotify and Bandcamp links don't crowd.
