Deviload v2.6.5
Deviload 2.6.5 brings a new download workspace, animated progress and mascot reactions, batch queue controls, settings backups and more precise editing. It also fixes download results, library records and saved Devil Cut projects.
Windows: Deviload-2.6.5-setup.exe, or accept the update prompt in the app.
Mac (test build): accept the update prompt, or take Deviload-2.6.5-macos-test.zip, move it to Applications and run xattr -cr /Applications/Deviload.app once.
Linux (x86_64): Deviload-2.6.5-amd64.deb or Deviload-2.6.5-x86_64.AppImage; the AppImage updates itself.
What's new
-
Saved projects retain their source records when the queue or library is cleared. New tasks no longer reuse deleted task IDs. Missing video sources can be located again without discarding the timeline.
-
Playlist files have individual library entries and actions, including successfully downloaded files from a partially failed playlist. Repeated records of the same path do not inflate the library count. Download groups can be collapsed.
-
The selected video container also applies to sources that already contain video and audio. Incompatible codecs are reported instead of silently returning another container.
-
Download archives distinguish formats and destination settings. Skipped tasks say "Already downloaded" and offer "Download again" instead of reporting a new file that does not exist.
-
Watched lists keep excess new entries eligible for the next check instead of marking them as downloaded.
-
Link inspection and playlist selection use the selected cookies source. Retrying a failed task applies the current cookies settings. Instagram errors distinguish audience restrictions, an empty API response and request limits.
-
Linux YouTube sign-in directs users to browser cookies or a cookies.txt file. Opening a browser alone does not transfer its session.
-
Tray actions restore minimized windows, macOS handles reopening from the Dock, and signing out on macOS clears the site's cookies without clearing application storage.
-
Small windows retain toolbar actions in a More menu. Settings are divided into categories, video/audio choices are separate from playlist/subtitle options, and the save-folder picker is available beside the format controls.
-
Progress distinguishes merging, conversion, container changes and saving. Supporting buttons and idle mascot motion are quieter.
-
Linux packages include media playback dependencies. AppImage startup isolates GIO modules from incompatible host plugins; CI checks startup on Debian 13 and Ubuntu 24.04.
-
Mac and Linux: Deviload no longer looks through Downloads, Desktop and Documents at start for Deviload 1.x, which only ever ran on Windows; on Mac that search made the system ask for folder access every time
Thanks to Esquire_Gamer for testing on Mac.
Workspace and workflow improvements
The download workspace keeps the link field, format controls and queue together. The library, converter and Devil Cut share the same palette and controls, with the mascot and flame effects reserved for download activity.
Downloads and library
- Select multiple tasks to pause, resume, retry, cancel or send completed files to a phone. Failed actions keep their selection for another attempt.
- Save download profiles and organize destinations by author, month or playlist. Link previews identify items already in the library.
- Keep library records and their count when clearing completed tasks from the queue.
- Show merging, conversion and saving separately from transfer progress. Completed downloads become available before optional metadata inspection finishes.
- Keep pending phone transfers when adding more files to the transfer list.
- Preserve phone transfer progress during browser header checks, count overlapping ranges once, and mark a file sent only after all bytes have been served. Interrupted downloads no longer keep an unused phone link alive indefinitely.
Settings and editing
- Export and restore download settings, profiles, watched sources and interface preferences. Imports show a summary before applying changes and exclude cookies and account credentials.
- Select multiple Devil Cut clips, duplicate or delete them together, and undo the group action.
- Enter precise source trim boundaries, set boundaries at the playhead, and choose video, audio or GIF export presets.
Interface and platform support
- Use the compasses and square mark for the application, installer and system tray. macOS uses a template tray icon for light and dark menu bars.
- Keep the mascot's torso and grip stable while its wings flex slowly and its lower flames move. Completion and error reactions remain animated; reduced-motion settings keep the idle pose still.
- Provide an Open Deviload tray menu on macOS and Linux, handle Windows double-clicks, and restore the application before focusing its window on macOS.
- Report missing Instagram sessions, audience restrictions, empty responses and malformed responses separately. Retrying uses the currently selected cookies source. A saved session does not guarantee that Instagram will return a particular post.
- Bundle the media engines in macOS CI builds and verify their packaged executable files. Linux CI checks AppImage startup on Debian 13 and Ubuntu 24.04.
Instagram extraction can still fail for posts the service does not return to yt-dlp, including when saved cookies are present.

Deviload v2.6.4
Fixes from Mac testing.
Windows: Deviload-2.6.4-setup.exe, or accept the update prompt in the app.
Mac (test build): accept the update prompt, or take Deviload-2.6.4-macos-test.zip, move it to Applications and run xattr -cr /Applications/Deviload.app once.
Linux (x86_64): Deviload-2.6.4-amd64.deb or Deviload-2.6.4-x86_64.AppImage; the AppImage updates itself.
What's new
- The number next to Library counts the files in the library; "Remove finished" in the queue no longer resets it
- Mac: moving the window by the top strip no longer starts a text selection that could end up in the link field
- The start-up switch is named after the system: "Open at login" on Mac, "Start at login" on Linux
Thanks to Esquire_Gamer for testing on Mac.

Deviload v2.6.3
Recording controls at the top, and a cleaner window on Mac.
Windows: Deviload-2.6.3-setup.exe, or accept the update prompt in the app.
Mac (test build): accept the update prompt, or take Deviload-2.6.3-macos-test.zip, move it to Applications and run xattr -cr /Applications/Deviload.app once.

What's new
- While a live stream is recording, the panel at the top has its buttons too: stop the recording, change its length limit or open its log without scrolling to the card
- Stopping a recording before the stream sent anything now ends the task as cancelled instead of a yt-dlp error, and a daily recording still comes back the next day
- Mac: the grey title bar is gone; the window buttons sit on the dark sidebar and the strip on top moves the window
- Every drop-down has the same arrow on Windows, Mac and Linux

Deviload v2.6.2
A tidier format bar.
Windows: Deviload-2.6.2-setup.exe, or accept the update prompt in the app.
Mac (test build): accept the update prompt, or take Deviload-2.6.2-macos-test.zip, move it to Applications and run xattr -cr /Applications/Deviload.app once.
Linux (x86_64): Deviload-2.6.2-amd64.deb or Deviload-2.6.2-x86_64.AppImage; the AppImage updates itself.
What's new
- The format bar is laid out in two clean lines: download types with the settings button, then quality, file type and the hint under them
- On narrow windows the controls flow one after another instead of scattering to the right
- The file type choice is hidden for audio downloads, where it does not apply
- Buttons on queue cards no longer run past the window edge when the window is 760 to 900 pixels wide

Deviload v2.6.1
A Support button in the corner, and update checks that are always on.
Windows: Deviload-2.6.1-setup.exe, or accept the update prompt in the app.
Mac (test build): accept the update prompt, or take Deviload-2.6.1-macos-test.zip, move it to Applications and run xattr -cr /Applications/Deviload.app once.

- Deviload always looks for a new version at start and every 6 hours; only the version number is requested
- "Later" on the update notice now hides it until the next check, six hours on, instead of three days

Deviload v2.6.0
Sign in to Instagram, TikTok and X, MP4 by default, and an export folder.
Windows: Deviload-2.6.0-setup.exe, or accept the update prompt in the app.
Mac (test build): accept the update prompt, or take Deviload-2.6.0-macos-test.zip, move it to Applications and run xattr -cr /Applications/Deviload.app once.
Linux (x86_64): Deviload-2.6.0-amd64.deb or Deviload-2.6.0-x86_64.AppImage; the AppImage updates itself.
What's new
- Sign in to Instagram, TikTok and X from Settings > Accounts, the same way as YouTube. Each link uses the session of its own site, and a task that needs an account offers the right Sign in button
- Videos are MP4 by default, with H.264 and AAC when the site has them, so they play on phones, TVs and editors. MKV and WebM are one click away next to the quality
- One export folder for Devil Cut and the converter, or keep results next to the source as before
- Saved Devil Cut projects show their clip count and the time of the last change, and no longer run off the card
- A post that needs an account no longer makes Deviload update yt-dlp or suggest the YouTube sign-in

Deviload v2.5.0
Spanish, daily live recordings, and deleting files with Undo.
Windows: Deviload-2.5.0-setup.exe, or accept the update prompt in the app.
Mac (test build): accept the update prompt, or take Deviload-2.5.0-macos-test.zip, move it to Applications and run xattr -cr /Applications/Deviload.app once.
Linux (x86_64): Deviload-2.5.0-amd64.deb or Deviload-2.5.0-x86_64.AppImage; the AppImage updates itself.
What's new
- Spanish interface. The language menu in the top bar has English, Russian and Spanish
- Live streams on a schedule: pick a start time, a recording length and "Repeat every day", and the same stream records at the same time daily
- Removing a finished file can delete it from the disk too. It goes to the Recycle Bin or Trash, and Undo brings the task back for a few seconds
- Devil Cut exports at the original size or up to 4K, in H.264 or H.265 (about half the size), and J, K and L shuttle the preview back, stop and forward at up to 4×
- New files from Devil Cut, the converter, the audio tools and saved recordings are written under a temporary name and renamed only when complete, so a crash never leaves a broken file that looks finished
- Every bundled engine (yt-dlp, FFmpeg, Deno) is checked against the checksum its project publishes before it goes into a build
- The Inter font everywhere, the same on every system
- Deviload looks for a new version at every start and every 6 hours, not once a day
- Messages now show above open windows such as Settings
- The installer says clearly when the chosen folder needs administrator rights (anything inside Program Files) instead of failing halfway
- Support Deviload on Ko-fi, from Settings > About

Deviload v2.4.0
Live stream recording, and sending to a phone works with big files.
Windows: Deviload-2.4.0-setup.exe, or accept the update prompt in the app.
Mac (test build): accept the update prompt, or take Deviload-2.4.0-macos-test.zip, move it to Applications and run xattr -cr /Applications/Deviload.app once.
Linux (x86_64): Deviload-2.4.0-amd64.deb or Deviload-2.4.0-x86_64.AppImage; the AppImage updates itself.
What's new
- Live streams: paste the link and it records, showing the time and size so far. "Stop recording" saves what was recorded as a normal MP4, and a limit from 15 minutes to 24 hours can stop it by itself. A stream that goes off the air or a recording cut off by closing Deviload is saved too
- Sending to a phone no longer breaks off after about 130 KB, the cause of "Couldn't save file" on phones. Thanks to @JanDo1988 for finding and fixing it

- A wide link field in the top bar, task rows with the same buttons in every row, and no sideways scrolling in small windows
- Deleted files download again: removing a song from the disk no longer needs the archive option turned off
- Remove works on the first click
- Sending to a phone saves the file with its real name, and Open plays it in the phone's browser
