Creating a Character
The builder opens on Summary.
- Plan name — the name of this build (e.g. Main plan).
- Character name, Portrait and Token — click a picture box to upload; large images are shrunk automatically. Without a token picture, the portrait is used. Use a token ring puts the portrait inside PF2e's dynamic ring.
- Character for (GM only) — the player who will own the character.
- Ancestry / Heritage / Background / Class / Deity cards — click to jump to that step.
- Still to choose — what's still missing. Click an item to go there.
- Notes — free text kept with the plan.
- Preview at level N — HP, AC, Perception, saves, Class DC, speed, attributes and skills, calculated by PF2e as soon as an ancestry and a class are chosen. The eye/level selector at the top previews another level.
An unfinished new character is saved on your user, so you can close the window and pick it up later.
Create character becomes available once ancestry, heritage, background, class, key attribute, the four level-1 boosts and the level-1 skills are chosen. It creates the character at the world's starting level; the rest of the plan stays on the sheet, ready for later levels.
The left-hand list is the order to work in: Ancestry · Heritage → Background → Class → Deity → Attributes → Skills → Spells. A dot shows what's done. Each step has Next: … and To summary buttons.
Every list works the same way:
- Click an entry to read it on the right; double-click or press Choose to pick it.
- Search by name, rarity chips (Common / Uncommon / Rare / Unique) and Include legacy (pre-remaster content).
- Ancestries and backgrounds can be filtered by the attributes they boost.
- Prerequisites: ✔ met, ✖ not met, ? check it yourself (the builder can't judge things like "worships a deity" or "A or B").
- To chat posts the entry to chat.
The ancestry's own heritages come first, then versatile heritages that any ancestry can take.
The class card shows HP per level, key attribute, skills and Perception. If the class has choices — a mystery, muse, patron, bloodline, doctrine … — a Choices window asks for them now. Answer here and PF2e won't ask again when the character is created.
Optional. Classes that need one (cleric, champion …) choose it here. Click it again to deselect.
Boosts from ancestry (fixed, free or one of two), background and class (key attribute), plus four free boosts at level 1. Alternate ancestry boosts swaps the ancestry's fixed boosts and flaw for two free boosts. Levels 5, 10, 15 and 20 give four more boosts (with Gradual Ability Boosts, one at each level of 2–5, 7–10 … — picked on the level pages); at +4 or higher a boost is partial (two partial boosts make +1).
Skills from your class and background are trained automatically. Pick the rest — the count includes your Intelligence modifier. Background lores are listed too.
