FAQ & troubleshooting

"Create character" stays greyed out. Look at Still to choose on Summary. Ancestry, heritage, background, class, key attribute, the four level-1 boosts and the level-1 skills are all required.

A player gets "A GM must be online to create a character". The GM's client creates the actor. Have a GM logged in and try again.

A player can't upload a portrait. They need Foundry's Upload New Files permission (Game Settings → User Permissions), or the GM uploads it.

The button in the Actors tab says "Character Builder", not "Create Character". You already have a character (or reached the per-player limit), so it opens your character. The GM can change Characters per player.

Can I use it on an existing character? Yes — Builder in the sheet header. Add a plan with Continue from the sheet and plan the levels ahead.

Will applying the plan overwrite my sheet? No. Applying only adds what's missing. Only Rebuild with this (from-scratch plans) removes and re-adds the build — gear, coins, effects and HP are kept, and you're asked first.

The comparison numbers differ from my sheet. Previews leave out equipment and choices not made yet.

What does "?" next to a prerequisite mean? The builder couldn't judge it from the text (e.g. "worships a deity", "A or B"). Read it and decide.

Some ancestries or feats are missing. Check Rarities players can see, Hide legacy content and Compendiums the builder reads in the GM settings. Homebrew packs with other names need to be ticked there; homebrew in the world's Items tab is read unless the GM turned it off in the same window.

Does it work with homebrew feats, classes and ancestries? Yes — they're read like the official ones. Homebrew spellcasting classes need their spell table set once (Spells step → Set up this class's spellcasting). See Homebrew & other modules.

PF2e asked me again for a choice after creating. Choices answered in the builder's Choices window aren't asked again; ones left open are asked by PF2e when applying.

English or Korean? The interface follows Foundry's language. For Korean content names and descriptions, use a Korean PF2e translation module (Rutz's is recommended; others work too).
