Spells
When you choose a spellcasting class, the Spell setup window explains how it casts:
- Tradition · type · attribute — e.g. Divine · Spontaneous · Charisma. Classes whose tradition comes from a subclass (bloodline, patron …) take it from that choice.
- What to learn — e.g. 5 cantrips and 3 spells in your repertoire, and spells per day.
- Focus spells and granted spells your class, subclass and planned feats give up to this level. Change the feats and this list changes.
Choose spells now opens the spell list; Later comes back to it from Spells in the left-hand list.
The three ways of casting:
| Type | What you pick |
|---|---|
| Spellbook (wizard, witch …) | A set number at level 1, then 2 spells each level; prepare from the book each day |
| Repertoire (oracle, sorcerer, bard …) | One spell of a rank each time you gain a slot of that rank |
| Whole list (cleric, druid …) | Nothing to learn — you prepare from the whole tradition each day. You can still note favourites |
A homebrew class the builder doesn't have a table for still lets you pick a tradition and add spells; the GM can give it spells per day and spells to learn with Set up this class's spellcasting in the Spells step — see Homebrew & other modules.
- The header counts what's chosen, e.g. 5/5 Cantrips · 0/3 Spells.
- Switch between Cantrips and Spells (≤ rank N).
- Tick a row (or double-click it, or Choose) to learn it at this level; do it again to remove it.
- Faded rows are spells already planned at another level.
- Show other traditions lists spells outside your tradition; Include legacy and the rarity chips filter as elsewhere.
Each level in the level plan has its own spells to learn.
Creating the character, or applying the plan, sets up the spellcasting entry, the focus spell entry, focus points and the daily slots from the class table.
Spells granted by feats or class features you add directly on the sheet (a witch lesson's hex, for example) are added automatically too (GM setting Add class spells automatically). The Sync class spells button does it by hand.
