Printing
- Print — the toolbar button, the editor title bar, or PDF Tools: Print in the Command Palette — prints all pages.
-
Print Pages… (… menu, File section) asks which pages: the current page, all pages, or pages and ranges such as
1-3, 7, 10-.
Range syntax: pages and ranges separated by commas (or spaces); 10- runs to the last page and -5 starts at the first.
VS Code does not let extensions open the print dialog: its webviews are sandboxed. PDF Tools therefore writes a temporary copy of the document — including form values you have not saved yet — and opens it in your system PDF application, where you print it as usual. Temporary copies are deleted after a day.
For Print Pages…, the temporary copy contains only the chosen pages, with their form values.
With "pdfTools.print.method": "windowsPrintVerb" (Windows only), PDF Tools sends the temporary copy to the default PDF application's Print command instead of opening it. If that fails, it falls back to opening the copy. See Settings.
Printing from a remote window (WSL, SSH, containers) is not expected to work: the temporary copy is written on the remote machine, while your PDF application runs locally.
