Game Settings (English)

中文 | English

What It Is

Game Settings is the central entry point for Ez2Lazer-specific systems and behavior toggles.

Implemented Features

  • Turbo mode: a single switch that suppresses per-frame cost outside the skin to raise frame rate. See below.
  • Ez sections group gameplay-impacting options with clearer warnings/tooltips.
  • Supports custom osu data path while keeping compatibility with official data layout.
  • Includes practical toggles for storyboard scaling, cache cleanup and analysis warmup.
  • Local account flow supports login-state persistence for offline usage.
  • Stability protections were added in multiple modules (deserialization/guard handling).

Where to Use

  • Settings -> Ez for Ez-specific controls.
  • Settings -> Audio/Graphics for latency, framerate and rendering behavior.
  • Settings -> User interface -> Main menu for the logo fill and whether song select keeps the menu background.
  • Settings -> Background → background source Pixiv follow feed (see Pixiv Menu Background)

Main Menu

Location: Settings -> User interface -> Main menu.

  • Logo background: Solid, Acrylic, or Clear. Default is Acrylic. Solid exposes a colour (including alpha); Acrylic exposes blur strength (0–40). Menu pictures and videos are no longer sampled for a linked fill.
  • Ez background only: song select keeps the main menu background and does not load the current beatmap background. Picture, video, and Pixiv sources match the menu.
  • Menu video is centred by default.
  • Visualizer: long-press the main-menu logo. Move the pointer under the logo to show the control bar and open the playlist on the right. Loop cycles through single, sequential, and shuffle. The now-playing bar can favourite the current beatmap set or jump to that beatmap. The bar and playlist follow the acrylic UI switch.

Score Bonus

Location: Settings -> Ez. At the end of a play, a temporary score is computed from hit offset and the KPS of that interval. It does not change the main score or sort order. It applies to every ruleset. KPS comes from the Ez analysis cache for the current beatmap and mods.

  • Score bonus tendency: High Judge Ratio, Low Error Rate (default), or Hidden. Hidden skips the bonus; the score is still saved.
  • Bonus boundary: offsets at or within this value count as timing bonus; beyond it they count as error malus. Default 44ms, 1ms steps. Offsets at or within 6ms take the full timing bonus.
  • Hit and error KPS weights are separate by key count (clamped to 4–18). Hit weight is 0 when KPS is at or below 5. Error weight is the hit weight times 0.75, so misses on high-KPS charts can be discounted on their own.
  • Song-select score hover shows the timing bonus and error malus under the score. The results card shows the formula line. The main score and sorting stay on the original score.

Turntable Axis

Location: Settings -> Ez. Off by default.

  • When on, the L/R turntables drive Mania and Catch, sharing bindings, deadzone, stop threshold, and invert. In Mania a spin presses the matching edge column and a stop releases it. In Catch, counter-clockwise moves left and clockwise moves right, with a wider hit window while spinning.
  • Song-select stepping has no switch of its own. It runs when Ez2Ac 10k2s1p is also on and L or R is bound. A spin is the same as ↑/↓.

Server

New installs default to the g0v0 server preset (lazer.g0v0.top). The server settings can switch back to official.

Audio Output Paths (Windows)

In-game tooltips only show a compact path table. Details and troubleshooting live here.

Selection Actual output path
Default device + Use legacy audio mode checked NAudio WASAPI shared (Ez default: BASS mixes, NAudio writes the device)
Legacy unchecked (official “experimental” WASAPI) BassWasapi shared (upstream path)
Dropdown Device (WASAPI Exclusive) BassWasapi exclusive (not NAudio)
Dropdown Device (ASIO) ASIO (Ez testing)

Notes:

  • The Legacy checkbox only switches between “plain device / Default” and official shared WASAPI; it does not change an already selected Exclusive or ASIO entry.
  • Exclusive remains BassWasapi for now. If default NAudio init fails, the game falls back to classic BASS device playback.
  • ASIO is still experimental. For virtual drivers (e.g. VoiceMeeter), you may need to switch to a physical output first to activate the driver, then switch back to VM. Do not assume virtual ASIO is always better than WASAPI. Try restarting the game if there is no sound.
  • ASIO sample rate / buffer / external PCM options appear only when an ASIO device is selected; see the short in-game hints on those controls.

Turbo Mode

Location: Settings -> Ez -> Turbo mode. The goal is a higher in-game frame rate, and through that, lower latency.

What gets suppressed while it is on:

  • Storyboard and video (never created rather than merely hidden), background dimmed to the point it stops drawing, background blur
  • Lighten during breaks, hit lighting, star fountains, key overlay, gameplay leaderboard, beatmap comments
  • Main menu parallax, seasonal backgrounds, song select background blur, menu background source forced to skin
  • Acrylic UI, column blur, and the score race service is made inert

Behaviour:

  • Active everywhere, rather than toggling as you enter and leave gameplay. Suppressed settings appear greyed out and labelled as managed by turbo mode.
  • Turning it off restores your original values. Those values are written to disk before anything is overwritten, so they are restored automatically on next launch even if the game exits abnormally.
  • It does not lower any thread rate and does not cap frames — both would work against the goal of lower latency.
  • Column blur is part of the stage look, and is the only item that changes skin appearance.
  • Ez analysis on-the-fly calculation and SQLite access are not affected; they only influence song select smoothness, not gameplay frame rate.

Notes

  • Path changes usually require restart.
  • Backup realm/sqlite files before destructive rebuild operations.
  • While turbo mode is on, the settings it manages cannot be edited by hand (they are greyed out). Turn turbo mode off first.
