Story Actor

Story

The story actor should be considered the game hub. In most cases it is the first actor you want to create when planning or starting a new story.

Only the GM should ever own a story actor, though it can be useful to let players observe this actor. A player observing a story actor will only see basic information like name, portrait, current act, omen dice and dice bag.

Header

The header includes the basic information like the portrait, the title and the current act.

grafik

The game is started by clicking the red play symbol to the right of the "Prologue". Upon clicking it the Host will see a check window which will give an overview over the current preperation state of all included player character (unless it is deactivated in the settings). The preperation check can be skipped by shift-clicking the play symbol and can be ignored at the Hosts discretion.

Once the story is in active play, i.e. you are no longer in the prologue, all connected player characters will lock down and things like aspect ratings, archetypes, chosen perks and selected gear can no longer be changed. Hovering over the current act at the top while in active play will give the Host options to progress to the next act or to reset the story (and all it's player characters) to the prologue.

Also note the bordered section below the "Prologue" in the screenshot. This section will only show up during the prologue and only if the host hovers over the act name. Here you can adjust some progress rules for the acts:

  • Auto progress: Progress to next act once the omen dice in play reach the specified threshold. The host still has to confirm the progress via a popup.
    • The thresholds can be defined below, for acts II and III, the story will always try to progress to act I the moment the a omen dice is added to the dice bag
  • Add die on act start: If, as the rules describe, a omen dice should be added to the dice bag when act II or act III starts.

Game

The game tab includes most controls a Host needs to setup a story and progress it.

Dice

Here the omen dice the Host has left to add to the dice bag and the current configuration of the dice bag are displayed. The host can add omen dice to the dice bag or romove them from there using the red arrows.

Aspects & Archetypes

This is one of the most important areas for the setup. The host can enter the 5 story aspects, setup the archetypes and configure each archetypes "Great" aspect. Aspects can be added either by clicking the "+" next to the title or by drag & dropping an archetype onto the sheet.

Note here that the order of the story aspects should not be changed once the story is setup as many thing refere to them by the position in this list.

Players

Here the host can add player characters to the story and observe their current state. The characters name, archetype and wound status are displayed here. Using the button at the top right allows the host to auto populate the characters by creating a PC actor for every player in the current world in the stories directory. The created PC actors will be automatically owned by the coresponding player. Clicking a characters name here will open the characters sheet.

Story

The story tab allows for notes and story plans to be organised

grafik

For each act a sub tab is included. Each tab has small easy to edit notes section where the GM can track the stories development. For more elaborate plans, notes or outlines a story section is provided below which allows for enriched text. So you could for example write inline checks here, include images or refer to NPCs by drag & dropping their actor here.

The tab of the active act will always be coloured red.
