Backstage

Main menu → Backstage is where you build your rock star, your instruments and your own stages. It needs a profile (Career → Sign in), because everything you make and unlock is saved on it.

Moving over any card tries it on: the 3D preview shows it right away. Press ✕ / Enter to equip it. Locked cards show what they need: a price (buy it with cash), a level, an achievement, or a boss trophy.

Character

Presets, the part you stand at on stage, body (build, height, skin), hair (10 styles, 10 colours), face (facial hair, eyewear), headwear, tops (T-shirt, tank, leather jacket, hoodie, long coat, waistcoat) in two colours, trousers and shoes, accessories (chain, scarf, shoulder spikes, cape, frost wings), LED trim and a stage move (headbanger, groover, jumper, power stance, showboat). Your character plays your part in every song and appears in your friends' games online.

Instruments

Pick a part (guitar, bass, drums, keys, vocals):

  • Model — guitar and bass bodies (classic, Vee, star, offset, hollow, thunderbolt), drum kits (standard, double kick, fusion), keyboards (stage piano, synth workstation, keytar), microphones.
  • Paint — the finish and the pickguard.
  • Hardware — chrome, gold, black or copper, and LED glow for strings, inlays and rings.
  • Upgrades — four components per part, five levels each, bought with cash. Each raises one modifier: overdrive charge, overdrive length, sustain points, crowd (the meter drops slower) or boss damage.
  • Pedalboard — one slot, two at level 8, three at level 16. Pedals add modifiers to every part: Merch Table (+25% cash, no effect on play), Fuzz Face, Tape Delay, Compressor, Noise Gate (streak shields), Auto-Wah (wider timing), Octaver (faster multiplier), and five boss pedals.

Gear and leaderboards: runs played with gear that changes the game earn XP and cash but are kept off the leaderboards, like assists. Turn gear off in Settings → Gameplay → Gear modifiers for ranked runs. Pro mode always plays without gear. Online, the host decides whether gear counts in the room.

Stages

Build up to six stages. Each slot has its own choices: venue size, backdrop (LED tunnel, brick, curtain, starfield, synthwave sunset, ocean, code rain, aurora, lava lamp), floor, lights (truss and movers, a few spots, laser show, disco, house lights), left wing, right wing, upstage, stage front, overhead, atmosphere (haze, bubbles, snow, embers, fireflies, confetti), crowd and colours. Boss trophies go in the wings and upstage.

Press Play on this stage to use it, or pick it per song in the Setlist (Stage row) or in Settings → Video → Venue.

Cash

Every finished song pays (more for stars, full combos, gold and harder difficulties); bosses pay a bounty, more the first time. The Merch Table pedal adds 25%.
