Installation

What you need

CBA_A3 Required
ACE3 Required
USAF Mod Optional. Its C-17 and C-130J are the calibrated airframes, but CARP does its own loading and releasing and does not need it.
Free Fall Off The Ramp Optional. Drives the jumplight on a jump run. Without it the readout and countdown still work.

CARP dropped its hard dependency on the USAF mod in v0.10.0. It runs the whole release sequence itself.

Clients

Subscribe on the Steam Workshop, or download a release from Releases and unpack @TLB_CARP_System into your Arma 3 folder. Tick it in the launcher.

If you are upgrading from a build older than v0.8.4, the folder used to be called @USAF_CARP_System. Delete the old folder, or Arma loads the addon twice.

Servers

Two things, and the second is the one people forget.

1. Load the mod on the server itself, not only on the clients. On a dedicated server the cargo is usually owned by the server, and that is the machine that performs the release and flies guided canopies. Without CARP on the server, drops quietly do nothing.

2. Install the signing key. Every release from v0.16.14 on is signed. Copy

keys/tlb_carp.bikey

out of the mod folder into the server's own Keys/ folder, and verifySignatures = 2 works as normal.

It is one persistent key with no version in its name, so you install it once and never again. That is deliberate: a key that changed every release is how a unit ends up turning signature verification off instead.

Copy whole folders, not just the PBOs. The .bisign files live in addons/ beside them. A PBO without its signature is refused exactly as an unsigned one is — see Troubleshooting.

What ships

File What it is
addons/TLB_CARP_System.pbo The drop computer
addons/TLB_CARP_Items.pbo The CARP Computer item and the launcher logo
addons/*.bisign Signatures for both, one per PBO
keys/tlb_carp.bikey The public key for server admins

Forcing settings for your unit

Anything marked Server on the Settings page can be pinned in the server's cba_settings.sqf:

The prefix changed after 1.0.0. Every CARP variable was USAFDC_setting_... in 1.0.0 and is TLB_CARP_setting_... from the next release on. If your cba_settings.sqf was written against 1.0.0, update the prefix when you update the mod — a force line naming a setting that does not exist is not an error, it simply does nothing.

force TLB_CARP_setting_requireComputer = true;
force TLB_CARP_setting_jumpOpenAglM = 800;
force TLB_CARP_setting_jpadsStickSpacingM = 50;

Checking it worked

  1. TLB CARP appears in Addon Options.
  2. Get in an aircraft carrying a CARP Computer and press your ACE interaction key — TLB CARP is on the menu.
  3. On a dedicated server, do it with a second player aboard and confirm both panels show the same CREW revision number.

Step 3 is the one worth doing properly. A listen server hides the single thing most likely to break, because there the cargo is local to the host.
