TLB CARP

TLB CARP

Computed Air Release Point for Arma 3. CARP works out where you have to let go of a load so it lands on the drop zone — not from a table, and not from where you planned to be. It reads the aircraft you are actually flying and re-solves several times a second.

Fast, and the release point moves back. Low, and it moves forward. You can be off plan and still be on target.

What it does

  • Live release point — re-solved continuously from your actual state, not looked up.
  • Autopilot — intercepts the run-in and flies it with control forces.
  • Auto drop — releases at the right instant, and refuses a bad pass.
  • Cargo — load it, stack it, drop it, one load or a stick. Four cargo sources.
  • Guided cargo — canopies steer themselves onto the drop zone.
  • Jump run — computed exit point, countdown and jumplight for a HALO stick.
  • Crew — everyone aboard shares one drop computer.

Accuracy, measured

Every number here came off a flown or benched drop. When the data disagreed with the model, the data won.

Unguided, C-130J 19.3 m radial
Unguided, C-17 21.1 m radial
Guided, zero wind 0.76 m
Guided, 10 m/s wind 1.15 m
Cue-flown HALO exits 7 m and 12 m

The caveats that go with each of those are on the Accuracy page, and they matter — read it before quoting a figure.

Two things that catch people

  1. You need a CARP Computer. It is an item, it is in the Arsenal, and without it there is no CARP in your interaction menu. A mission maker can switch that off.
  2. The mod has to be on the server too, not just the clients. Cargo is usually owned by the server, and that is the machine that performs the release.
