Hunting and Fishing
This datapack makes several changes to animals and fishing that encourage hunting.
Cows and pigs will not spawn anywhere in the map. Leather must instead be obtained by tanning fur in the crafting table by placing 2 fur into a shapeless crafting recipe.
The Frozen Forest has many more animals than the other biomes. It is best to look there when hunting.
In order for animals to drop most useful items, they must be killed by a player. These loot table changes often will be affected by the Luck attribute and status effect. More specific changes to animal loot tables are as follows:
- Chickens drop more feather but have a 30% chance of dropping chicken meat. Otherwise, they will drop 1-3 bones. Chickens have a 3% chance of dropping an Animal Soul.
- Cod and Salmon have a 1% chance of dropping an animal soul, in addition to their regular drops.
- Foxes will drop either 1 Fox Meat (renamed Porkchop) or 1-2 Fur. Foxes have a 7% chance of dropping an Animal Soul.
- Polar Bears will drop 2-3 Polar Beat Meat (renamed Beef) and 0-3 Fur. Polar Bears have a 12% chance of dropping an Animal Soul.
- Rabbits will drop 1-2 Fur in place of Rabbit Hide and they have a 7% chance of dropping an animal soul, in addition to their regular drops.
- Sheep will drop 0-1 mutton and have a 3% chance of dropping an Animal Soul. They will also drop their wool.
- Squid have a 3% chance of dropping an animal soul, in addition to their regular drops.
- Wolves will drop 0-2 Fur and have a 7% chance of dropping an Animal Soul.
- Wolf Spirits will always drop 1 Animal Soul.
Animal souls are renamed nether stars used in a couple of special crafting recipes. Primarily, they can be used to craft Soul Campfires, which provide more warmth than standard campfires (but at a reduced range), and also will work in the Glaciers where standard campfires will not. They can also be used to craft Lodestones. The shaped crafting recipe for a lodestone can be seen below:
Fishing loot tables have been adjusted slightly. Like normal, there are three types of loot you can get: fish, junk, and treasure. However, each of these have had some adjustments. Fish loot will now give salmon 70% of the time and cod 30% of the time. Pufferfish and Tropical fish cannot be obtained from fishing. Junk can only be obtained in open water, like treasure, to prevent AFK fishing abuse. Junk now also includes the possibility of obtaining 3 Fur. When you fish 5 Junk items, you will get 50 Favour. You can still get powerful fishing rods, enchanted books, and bows from treasure loot. But, now you can also get regular and enchanted golden apples, diamonds, and emeralds. This makes diamonds renewable.
Luck also affects fishing. For each point of luck, you will get 0-1 extra rolls of fishing loot. This means you can get more than 1 item per caught fish. So, you can fish in non-open water for lots and lots of fish, or fish in open water for greater chance at more loot. However, the probability of getting junk goes down with more luck, so using lucky fishing rods and Fish Totem players is not a good strategy for getting more Favour.
