The Forsaken Realms v1.03 — The Forsaking
The Forsaken Realms — v1.03
The Forgotten Realms is now The Forsaken Realms — new name, same game, and the biggest
release yet: a completely rewritten main quest with a real backstory, a major performance fix,
world-map treasure chests, a new game engine under the hood, and a long list of fixes from
player feedback.
⚠ Please start a New Game
This release reworks the main quest from the ground up, changes how the world is generated, and
(as part of the rename) moves the game's data folder — old saves will not see the new story and
may behave oddly. A fresh start is strongly recommended, and worth it.
The story: The Forsaking
The realm now has its history. You are its Guardian, sealed away three thousand years ago on the
Night of Chains by five planeswalkers — and the five Seals they cut from your stolen power are
what drained the world to grey ash. Now they've returned to claim the corpse. Wake, rebuild,
raise your banner, and take back the five Seals from the five thrones.
- Rewritten main quest line: an extended opening that teaches the world (ruined towns,
surviving towns, restoration), a new "Raise the Banner" quest arc (Capitol, guards, mines,
shops, research), and a rewritten Chapter 1 ending with a hook for what comes next. - The Warden: the mage who wakes you now has a name, a purpose, and all-new dialog.
- Quest guidance arrows now point at the right destination for every tutorial step — the
nearest ruined town when you need to restore one, a surviving town when you need to find
survivors, your own town when it's time to build. - Already built something before its quest appears? The quest now recognizes it retroactively —
no more being asked to build a Capitol you already have.
Day-end lag: fixed for real
The stutter at end of day that got worse the longer you played is gone — three separate causes
found and eliminated (late-game days went from ~1 second of freeze to under a fifth of that,
and it no longer grows over time).
New: world-map treasure chests
Chests now spawn across the world with a mix of finds behind them: free loot, a Thief Merchant
selling at a discount, duplicating a card from your active deck, a straight-up ambush, an
illegal 8-fighter Arena bracket, and more.
Early game difficulty: enemy tiers now pace properly
Multiple bugs let high-tier "(Master)" enemies — including endgame Legends — roam the map from
day 1. All spawn paths (roaming, quest spawns, and the AI's attacking mages) now respect the
weekly difficulty progression: week 1 is Apprentice/Adept country, stronger tiers unlock as the
weeks pass.
Engine update
Now built on Forge's 2.0.15 (08.26) daily — including their new main-menu artwork, duel
backdrops, a rewritten movement-input system, and all upstream card fixes since 08.19.
And more
- New game name, new icon treatment, new title screen art
- Restored neutral towns show proper town icons on the minimap (not ruins)
- Discord link is now a real clickable button on the welcome page
- Town-restoration rewards display properly (they were always granted — now you can see them)
- Ruined/player towns are ~15% larger; many towns hand-polished in this release's map pass
- Extensive diagnostic logging so bug reports can be pinpointed from a single log file

📱 Android (experimental — testers wanted!)
First-ever Android build. It has not been tested on a real device — neither of us owns an
Android — so you, the sideloaders, are the test. Please report back on Discord either way!
Install:
- On your Android device (Android 8.0+), download
forsaken-realms-1.03-signed-aligned.apk
from the assets below. - Tap the downloaded file and allow your browser/file manager to install unknown apps when
prompted (the game is signed by us, not the Play Store). - Grant the storage permission the app asks for — it stores the game data it downloads.
- On first launch, tap Download when offered the resource files (~180 MB — use Wi-Fi).
The app restarts itself when finished. After that it plays offline. - Works alongside the official Forge app — different app, different data.
Reporting: whether it works or crashes, please tell us on Discord
(https://discord.gg/TTRPKc9HYJ) — include your device model and Android version, and if it
misbehaves, the screen where it happened. (assets.zip in the file list below is downloaded
by the app automatically — you don't need to grab it yourself.)
The Forsaken Realms v1.02
The Forsaken Realms — v1.02
A big one: a new economy building, a real fix for the ante buy-back reports, a life/item
rebalance pass, a previously-unreachable Legendary dungeon finally opened up, all 5 AI capitals'
Arenas working correctly, a fix for Commander-only cards leaking into regular reward pools, a
quality-of-life rune upgrade, and a full internal review pass over everything since v1.01.
Thanks
Special thanks to VigilantSera, whose suggestions and feedback shaped a lot of what's in this
release and v1.01 before it. Early, detailed feedback like this is exactly what a young project
needs — much appreciated.
New: the Trader building
A cheaper, earlier-game alternative to the Capitol-only Exchange — buildable in any town. Converts
Gold into Wood/Stone at a markup (worse rates than Exchange, no Shards trading), so you don't have
to wait until you've built a Capitol to start converting spare gold into building materials. Build
one specifically at your Capitol to unlock upgrading it into a full Exchange.
New: the Colorless rune takes you home
Once you've built a Capitol, your starting rune now teleports you just outside it instead of back
to Spawn — a real "return to base" option for when you need to check in on your territory. Before
you have a Capitol, it still works exactly as before.
Fixed: ante buy-back "never offered" after a dungeon loss
Root-caused from two fresh log captures: the mechanic was actually working correctly — you simply
weren't told when you couldn't afford the buy-back price, which reads exactly like the option had
vanished. The popup now tells you the price and what you're short by, instead of staying silent.
Fixed: 4 of 5 AI capitals' Arenas were inaccessible
Green's Arena worked; the other four were silently missing their interactive trigger entirely —
you could walk right up to the building and nothing would happen. All 5 capitals now have a
working Arena with their own correct color-themed opponent pool and rewards.
Fixed: Commander-only cards and extra Sol Rings leaking into regular play
Root-caused a specific leak: a boss-reward deck referenced dozens of extra Sol Ring and Arcane
Signet printings (plus every two-color Signet) that bypassed the game's existing exclusion list
entirely — that's why Sol Ring could turn up more than once in a single deck, and why dead-weight
Commander-only support cards kept showing up as loot. Closed the gap and moved the exclusion list
into its own easy-to-edit file (config tables/restricted_cards.json) so more problem cards can
be added later without a code change.
Rebalanced: 40+ life items, 39 Legendary bosses
- 41 items across the game got a rarity or price adjustment so their power level matches what
they actually do (see the in-box notes if you're curious about specifics). - The 8 Realm-of-Legends-ported "Legendary" dungeons' bosses had their life rescaled onto this
game's own difficulty curve — they were quietly numerically ordinary despite the red-skull
warning; now they hit harder, matching the promise.
Fixed: Eldrazi Prison was a dead end
Only this Legendary dungeon's entry hall was ever finished — all of its inner doors were disabled.
It's now a real, finishable 7-boss dungeon: all 6 titans plus a true final encounter you can
actually reach if you track down what its two gates need.
Also in this release
- macOS and Linux launchers are now included in the download (
.commandfor double-click,
.shfor a plain shell) — previously only Windows got a working launcher in the zip. - Buy Back's rules text and building menus are more informative across the board.
- Start-menu version label now shows both the engine build and the game's own version/date.
- A full internal review of everything changed since v1.00 turned up and fixed several smaller
correctness issues before they were ever likely to be hit in play — a building-upgrade button
that could be tapped even while visibly disabled, a possible crash path if the new restricted-
cards file gets emptied or deleted by hand, and (related to the macOS/Linux launchers above) the
executable permission not actually making it into the downloaded zip until this release. - Assorted build-tooling and packaging speedups (nothing player-facing).

The Forsaken Realms v1.01 — The Fair Fight Update
The first balance patch, built directly from launch feedback — thank you to everyone who played
and especially to those who sent detailed critiques. The early game is still meant to be a
fight, but it should now be a fair one.
Balance
- Player move speed raised (32 → 40)
- More starting life on every difficulty: Easy 21, Normal 16, Hard 11, Insane 9
- Starting Wood & Stone doubled (Easy 200/200, Normal 100/100) — and Hard/Insane now start
with a seed amount (50/50 and 25/25) instead of nothing - All Wood/Stone building costs halved — construction, repairs, upgrades, town restoration,
and the Capitol itself (gold/shard costs unchanged) - Heavy Armor and Blessed Armor (+15 life) are now Mythic — they were dramatically
undercosted for this world's life totals
Legendary Dungeons
The eight dungeons ported from Realm of Legends (plus the Eldrazi Prison) are now clearly marked
as endgame content: a red triple-skull on the minimap and a warning at the door. Their power
level is intentionally far above the surrounding world — now you'll know before you walk in.
Quality of Life
- Ante re-rolls are smarter: they remember your last 5 rolls (no repeats) and prefer
Uncommon-or-better cards - Deck limit raised from 20 to 50
- Eldrazi Prison finally has a distinct icon on both the world map and minimap
- Balance knobs documented:
config tables/settings.jsonnow explains every value, including
the new side-quest timer length and AI attacking-mage counts
Notes
- Tested on Windows PC only. The game is HARD on purpose — see the in-box
