There are two ways to run CheatSpecter. The app is identical in both.

On the PS5 (recommended) From a computer
What runs where A payload on the console serves the app A small program on your computer serves the app and relays to the console
Needs a computer Only to send the payload, if that is how you load payloads Yes, while you use it
Game library, starting games, saving cheats on the PS5, cheats that stay on Yes Only if the payload is also on the console

On the PS5

  1. Download cheatspecter-v<version>.elf from the Releases page.
    • The release marked Latest is the one that has been used on a real console.
    • A Pre-release has newer features that have not been run on hardware yet.
  2. On the console, start ps5debug-NG as usual and wait for its "loaded" notification.
  3. Send the ELF to the console the way you load any other payload. In a payload manager, upload it and run it; the version shows next to its name.
  4. A notification on the TV shows the address. Open it in a browser on the same network: http://<PS5 IP>:8744

Things to know:

  • It has to be loaded again after each reboot, like any payload.
  • Loading a newer version replaces the one that is running. Loading the same version twice is harmless.
  • In a process list it appears as cheatspecter.elf.
  • Your cheats are kept on the console in /data/cheatspecter/cheats/, so they are there from any device and survive the PS5's address changing.

To send it from a computer with Node.js instead:

npm run payload:send -- <PS5 IP> # ELF loader on port 9021 by default

From a computer

You need Node.js 20.19 or newer.

  1. Download the source: Code → Download ZIP on the repository page, or git clone.
  2. Double-click Start CheatSpecter.command (macOS) or Start CheatSpecter.bat (Windows). The first run installs what it needs, then it starts and opens your browser.

Or, from a terminal:

npm install
npm start

The start-up message lists the address to open from a phone on the same Wi-Fi. Consoles running the debugger are found on the network automatically; type the address if discovery is blocked.

"What writes to this" makes the console connect back to your computer on port 755, so the firewall has to allow that. macOS asks the first time.

Try it without a console

npm install
npm run demo

Choose Demo console. It is a pretend PS5 running a small made-up game, "Specter Run", whose health drains and ammo counts down so every tool has something to work on. The Learn page also needs no console at all.

Updating

Download the newer ELF and load it. It replaces the running copy. Your saved cheats are untouched.
