Starting a recording

  1. Paste the Chaturbate live URL into the Chaturbate URL field.
  2. Click Start.
  3. A row appears in Ongoing recordings with the room name, a progress bar (indeterminate while recording — a live's total duration isn't known in advance), and a Stop button.

To stop a specific recording, click its Stop button. To stop everything at once, use Stop all.

Recording several lives at once (multi-stream)

Just paste a new URL and click Start again: each recording runs in its own yt-dlp process, with no need to open multiple instances of the app. The same room can't be recorded twice at the same time (an info message appears if you try), but it can be recorded again at a later time.

Quality, codec, and format (advanced mode)

Before starting a recording, in advanced mode:

  • Source quality: best available quality (recommended), medium quality (720p max), or minimum (saves space).
  • Output codec: copy without re-encoding (recommended, fast — the captured file is never modified), or H.264/H.265 re-encoding in the background once the recording finishes (produces an extra file, the original stays intact).
  • Output format: MP4, MKV (more resilient to an abrupt stop — an MP4 interrupted mid-recording can be harder to repair), or MOV.

Automatic reconnection

If enabled (see Configuration), a recording that stops unexpectedly (not through a manual stop) restarts automatically after a short delay, up to a limited number of attempts. The row's button turns into "Cancel" while a reconnection is scheduled.

Favorites

  • + Favorite: adds the URL currently in the URL field to the favorites list.
  • In the Favorites panel (advanced mode): Load puts the selected URL back into the URL field (or double-click the entry directly); Remove favorite removes it from the list.

Recording history

The History panel (advanced mode) lists the 50 most recent video files in the save folder, with size, duration (if ffprobe.exe is present, see Installation), and date. Refresh re-scans the folder; Open folder opens Windows Explorer on the selected file (or on the capture folder if nothing is selected).

Simple mode / advanced mode

The button at the top of the window toggles between:

  • Simple mode: just the URL field, Start/Stop all, and the list of ongoing recordings — the essentials for quick use.
  • Advanced mode: everything else (quality/codec/format, history, favorites, donate, logs, guide, updates, bug report).

The choice is remembered between launches.

Minimizing to the notification area

Closing the main window (the X) hides it in the notification area instead of quitting the app — an ongoing recording keeps running in the background. Right-click the icon in the notification area:

  • Open — brings the window back.
  • Settings — brings the window back and opens the Settings window directly (see Configuration).
  • Close — actually quits the app (stops all ongoing recordings).

Double-clicking the icon = Open.

Notifications

A notification (Windows notification area) appears when a recording finishes (successfully or with an error) and when a favorite is added.

Updates

The Check for updates button (advanced mode) checks the project's GitHub releases and offers to automatically download/install a new version if available — the app then restarts itself.

Language and theme

See the Configuration page: these settings, along with the save folder, cookies, and proxy, now live in the separate Settings window.
