Buyer Guide
Everything a shopper does on BookStoreBD, from finding a book to sending one back.
- Sign up with your name, e-mail and a password. A one-time code is sent to your e-mail to confirm it. You must be 18 or older.
- Or continue with Google: one tap on the sign-in or sign-up page. If you already have an account with the same e-mail, Google signs you in to it. To sign in with your e-mail as well, choose a password in Update Profile.
- New here? After you sign up you get a welcome e-mail and two notifications: How it works, a short tour for buyers and sellers, and the set-up card on your profile, which shows how far along your profile is and the next thing to add.
- A quick security check may appear on the sign-in and sign-up forms. Most of the time it passes by itself; now and then it asks for one tick.
- Choosing a password: at least 12 characters, with a lowercase and an uppercase letter, a number and a symbol. It must not contain your name or e-mail, be a common password, or use runs like "aaaa" or "1234", and it must not have leaked in a known data breach. The form ticks each rule off as you type. A password you set before these rules still works.
- Two-step sign-in (optional): on your profile, choose Turn on two-step sign-in. From then on, after your password we e-mail you a 6-digit code to finish signing in, so a password alone is not enough. Turning it off asks for your password.
- Forgot your password? Use "Forgot password" on the sign-in page; a code comes by e-mail.
- Keeping your account safe: after five wrong passwords in a row, signing in is paused for 15 minutes. We e-mail you when your account is signed in to from a browser we have not seen before, and when your password or bKash number changes. Changing either asks for your current password. On your profile, Sign out everywhere else ends every session but the one you are using.
- Light or dark: the moon or sun in the header switches between them, and your profile has Same as device, Light and Dark.
- Cookies and storage: on your first visit you choose what the site may keep in your browser: everything, only what it needs, or each group on its own. Change it any time from Cookie settings in the footer.
- Every account can both buy and sell. Your profile has a Buyer / Seller switch at the top; the buyer side shows your orders and purchased books.
- Search by title, author or ISBN from the bar at the top of every page. Suggestions appear as you type: books, authors, categories, sellers, and "search for". Before you type, it offers your recent searches and what is popular. Use the arrow keys and Enter, Tab to complete a suggestion, or tap one.
- Voice search: tap the microphone in the search box and say the title, in English or Bangla (choose English or বাংলা while it listens). It works in Chrome, Edge, Safari and Samsung Internet.
- Bangla or English, either way: type "pather panchali" to find পথের পাঁচালী, or "হ্যারি পটার" to find Harry Potter.
- Sellers whose name matches your search are listed above the books; tap one to open their shop.
-
Browse at
/filter, with filters for new or used, condition, category, price range, star rating (1 to 5 and up), in stock only, and deals only. - Sort by Relevant (deals first), biggest % off, biggest ৳ saving, newest, highest rated, or price either way.
- Choose 20, 30, 40 or 50 books a page, or type a page number to jump to it.
- The homepage has shelves: Quick deals, Latest books, Trending now, Top picks for you, Shop by category, Bestsellers, Popular writers, Top rated, Under ৳300, and Recently viewed.
- Every book shows how many people have viewed it and how many have it on a wishlist, so you can see how sought-after it is.
- On a book page, the seller's name and Visit shop open the seller's shop: their banner, how many copies they have sold, their seller rating, and all their books. The seller's rating also shows under their name on the book page.
Tap the heart on any book to save it. The wishlist sorts by recently saved, saved first, in stock first, biggest discount, price, or title.
For books in your wishlist or cart, you get a notification when:
- the price drops below what it was when you added it;
- only five or fewer copies are left.
Choose Notify me when it is back on the book's page, your wishlist or your cart. The seller is told someone is waiting, and you get a notification as soon as copies are added. Press it again to withdraw the request.
Looking for a book nobody is selling? Ask for it on the Wanted board. If someone has already asked for the same book, you are added to their request instead - so each book appears once, with how many people want it. Tap I want this too on any request to add your name.
When a seller lists the book, everyone who asked gets a notification and an e-mail with a link to it.
On your profile, Invite friends sends up to five people an e-mail saying you invited them and what BookStoreBD is, with a link to join. You can add a short note. You hear when they join.
Share on a book's page sends it to Facebook, WhatsApp, X, Telegram or e-mail, or copies the link. On a phone, More options opens the phone's own share sheet. The link previews as the book itself, with its cover and price.
- Add one copy or several: set the quantity on the book page before Add to Cart, or change it in the cart. You can never ask for more than are in stock.
- If a book sells out after you add it, it stays in your cart marked sold out, so you can buy it when it is back. It is left out of the total and of checkout.
- If the stock drops below what you asked for, your quantity is lowered to what is left, and the cart tells you.

Delivery takes about 3 working days in Dhaka and 5 elsewhere. Every book in one checkout shares a 16-character order number; the Copy button beside it copies it. You get a confirmation e-mail, and another when it is delivered.
Profile → Buyer Profile → Order List lists every order, with search, a status filter and sorting. Track Your Order shows its progress:
Order Confirmed → Processing → Shipped → Out for Delivery → Delivered.
The notification bell tells you each time it moves. Download PDF on the order's page saves a receipt: the books, the delivery address and what you pay.
You can cancel an order yourself until the seller starts preparing it, while it still says Order Confirmed. Open the order, choose Cancel this order, and optionally say why. After that, message the seller, or ask for a return once it arrives.
You have 7 days from delivery to ask for a return.
- Profile → Buyer Profile → Order List has Return the whole order, or Book List has Return on each book you bought.
- Describe what is wrong, add at least one photo, and give the bKash number for your refund.
- You get a notification and an e-mail with the decision. If it is approved, the e-mail says how to send the book back. We pay the courier.
- The book's price is refunded to your bKash within 15 working days of it reaching us. The original delivery charge is not refunded.
You can review a book you bought (not cancelled) from its page, and rate a seller you have bought from on their shop page: stars, an optional headline, and a few words about packing, delivery and how they answered. You can edit or remove either at any time.
The seller may answer, and you are notified when they do. Anyone signed in can report a review or rating; it stays up until an administrator decides.
Chat with Seller on a book page or a shop page opens a conversation. You can send text and pictures, and unread messages show on the chat icon.
The bell in the header shows how many are unread and the latest few; See all opens the full list. You hear about your orders, cancellations, return decisions, replies to your reviews, price drops and low stock on books you saved or carted, a sold-out book coming back, and messages from the shop.
Choose what you hear about on your profile, under Notifications: each kind can be on or off in the app and by e-mail separately. Security e-mails, such as a new sign-in or a password change, always arrive.
