Videos

Videos is the media tab. Left: Video library. Right: one of four isolated workspaces.

Workspace switcher label What it is
Clip Studio Trim, retime, preview, and export already-rendered clips.
Live FX Opens the pane headed Psychedelia Live. Perform and tune curated effects with immediate playback. Auto calls this engine Psychedelia Live.
Generator Lab The Videos workspace for the Animation Lab engine: 16 visual families, generate/mutate/lock, then Render final output.
Shader Lab GLSL / Twigl Lab / Shadertoy Lab.

The switcher is a horizontal list under the tab. The selected workspace has an amber border. Status text reports draft saves, compilation, and rendering; it is feedback rather than another setting.

Each procedural workspace keeps its own versioned draft when you switch away. All three procedural workspaces use the current Resources output policy and publish into the same Video library that Clip Studio consumes.

Video library

Heading Video library. Refresh rescans tracked output roots.

Search box filters the list. Each row shows:

  • Title
  • File name (mono)
  • Meta (resolution, duration, fps, route)

Click a row to load it into Clip Studio. Video-only, video-plus-PNG, and PNG-only procedural results each appear once. A complete retained PNG sequence takes the frameSequence route; otherwise MP4/MKV takes the video route. An incomplete sequence is rejected instead of silently treated as a one-frame clip.

The thin < strip between library and workspace hides the library (tooltip Hide video library).

Library items come from:

  • Render tab classic jobs
  • Auto Builder classic and procedural jobs
  • Psychedelia Live / Generator Lab / Shader Lab Render final output
  • Clip Studio Save export copies written beside the source

See the The rendered composition in Videos and Clip Studio screenshot.

Shared procedural chrome

Psychedelia Live, Generator Lab, and Shader Lab share several cards. Details live on their pages; this is the map.

Exact output

Heading Exact output. Publishes H.264 MP4, VP9 WebM, animated GIF, animated WebP, lossless FFV1 MKV, or an authoritative PNG sequence at landscape, square, portrait, or custom dimensions.

Shared size strip (exact output dimensions only; preview quality stays independent):

  • Size preset / Width / Height
  • landscape: 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 4K
  • square: 1080, swap width / height
  • portrait: 720, 1080, 1440, 4K

Also: Format, Draft name, FPS, Duration preset, Frame count.

WebM/GIF/WebP are encoded from the exact effected PNG timeline; they do not re-run the shader. A finished procedural clip can skip Clip Studio when no later edit is needed.

Render final output evaluates the shared deterministic frame-packet pipeline at the selected final dimensions, FPS, and frame count, then applies the Resources format, quality, encoder, and frame-retention policy. It does not use a separate browser recorder. Live playback resumes after publish.

Cancel render stops the job.

Color studio & post effects

Heading Color studio & post effects. Same 39-effect catalog as Clip Studio: named styles, fine controls, event markers, eligible value animations.

Selecting or mouse-wheeling the effect picker only chooses a candidate. Press Add effect to add it once. No effect auto-adds other effects, except that creating an event marker ensures the one Event Markers processor it needs.

Quick color (inside Professional color studio): Palette remap, Color grade, Hue cycle, Solarize. Pressing one adds that effect if absent or reopens its fine controls if already in the stack. It never duplicates or reorders.

Professional color studio expander: nine ordered GPU color processors (grade, psychedelic palette mapping, bloom, channel separation, chromatic lenses, posterization, solarization, hue motion, neon edges). Live preview and exact output match.

Event markers expander: add timed events that the Event Markers processor consumes.

Clear stack removes post effects.

Animate on a fine-tune row varies that value across the clip (From/To, easing, Once/Loop/Ping-pong, cycles, phase). Discrete choices stay static.

Reset all to baseline

Every procedural workspace has Reset all to baseline:

  • Psychedelia Live — current effect plus shared motion/view. Does not change Exact output or the post-effect stack.
  • Generator Lab — current family without changing families or seeds. Exact-output and post effects preserved.
  • Shader Lab — motion/view/uniform values without replacing pasted shader source or pass graphs.

Motion & view

Shared playback, rotation, and zoom: animation speed (0x16x), static rotation, rotation speed, view zoom (0.05x24x), zoom-pulse speed, zoom-pulse depth. Pulse depth 0 or Stop zoom pulse stops breathing immediately. Lock pulse depth at 0 if Generate/Mutate should keep it off. Speed changes shader/effect time; it does not stretch Exact output duration. 0x pauses time.

Quick tools

Shared builder verbs (wording varies slightly per workspace):

Generate any, Generate this / Generate this family / Generate this effect, Mutate, Intensify, Simplify, Next palette, Next motion, Harmonize, Lock seed, New seed, mutation strength.

Locks protect a control from builder operations.

Preview quality vs final

Procedural workspaces expose Preview quality independently of Exact output. Preview is for interaction; Render final output is the canonical job.

Clip Studio’s Preview quality is a disposable playback proxy and does not change Save export.
