Auto Builder

The Auto tab has two modes. This page is Auto Builder. Switch with the header buttons Auto Builder and API Lab. Refresh catalogs reloads the capability/catalog snapshot the builder uses.

Heading Auto. Create automatic video is the builder’s working title.

Creation engine

Label Creation engine.

Option Route
Classic Fractal Auto (native) Same native HLSL multi-GPU route as the Render tab, then publishes toward Clip Studio.
Any procedural module (WebView2) Exact browser-frame capture across Psychedelia Live, Animation Lab, and Shader Lab.
Psychedelia Live (WebView2) Live FX only.
Animation Lab (WebView2) Generator Lab / Animation Lab only.
Shader Lab (WebView2) Shader Lab only.

Procedural engines are not the Render-tab route. They use the same project/job contracts as their Videos workspaces.

When the engine is procedural, extra combos appear:

  • Source collection — category/family grouping.
  • Procedural source — optional exact effect, family, or shader template. Leave broad for surprise; pick one to lock the subject.

Auto remembers separate source-FPS choices for native vs procedural. Classic starts at 120 FPS; procedural starts at 60 FPS so a normal 8-second 1080p job requests 480 exact captures instead of 960. Higher procedural FPS remains available and increases frame work directly.

Resources bounds procedural CPU work and the total exact-render worker count. Eligible frame-independent jobs can divide frames across verified workers on enabled GPUs. Stateful effects and history-dependent shaders use one ordered worker. Final NVENC adapter selection is separate; consult job activity for the actual route.

Auto disables submission when duration × FPS would exceed the procedural 30–18,000-frame boundary.

Primary actions

Control Role
Generate one Enqueue a single job. You can click again immediately; jobs enter Build queue instead of blocking the tab.
Batch spinner (1–50) Count for Queue batch.
Queue batch Atomically create up to 50 variants from one creative direction. Either the entire batch enters the durable queue or none of it does.
Preview plan Side-effect-free plan (what would be generated). A blank seed is random for the session but stable across Preview plan, the next clip, and one batch.
Cancel selected Cancel the highlighted queue row.
Reset Reset the Auto Builder draft.

For a quick surprise: leave the repeatable seed and source filters blank, choose a mood, pace, and variety, then Generate one.

Intent and sources

Heading Intent and sources.

Control Role
Name Job/composition name stem.
Repeatable seed (optional) Leave blank for a random new result. Enter a whole number only to repeat a specific run. The variant counter creates distinct deterministic results and resumes after restart.
Style Broad visual direction (descriptions appear under the combo). Use foldDive-style journeys when you want KIFS/Mandelbox-like/quaternion/path-traced fold traversal.
Mood Creative mood.
Pace Glacial-to-frantic camera/seed/visual motion.
Variety Coherent-to-maximum formula diversity.
Creative vision (optional recipe) Proven visual journey, or blank and let mood/style lead. The generator still creates a unique variation.

Procedural mood/pace/variety are translated into each engine’s native controls (Shader Lab: pointer, time rate, rotation, view zoom, zoom speed/depth; Psychedelia: shared motion/view).

Source filters

Expander Source filters.

  • Families with search and checkboxes (N selected).
  • Formulas with search and checkboxes.
  • Minimum sources / Maximum sources.

Output and animation

Heading Output and animation.

Control Role
Duration Seconds.
Source FPS Classic: native render timeline. Procedural: exact output capture rate; doubling FPS doubles full-resolution browser captures.
landscape: 720p 1080p 1440p 4K Size presets.
portrait: 720 1080 1440 4K swap 9:16 and flip.
Custom size Width / Height.

Routing intents

Expander Routing intents: Quality profile, Final render format, and related routing.

Exact creative overrides

Expander Exact creative overrides: camera and visual presets, a track preset or family animation pack, overlay blend/key modes.

Clip details

Expander Clip details (when clip export is in play): Create clip export, Ping-pong, max height, optional path override.

Save outputs

Heading Save outputs.

Checkbox Role
Seeds Persist generated seeds.
Heart seeds Heart them into the Compose library.
Composition Save the composition.
Keep PNGs Checked by default so Clip Studio can retain and prefer frame_*.png. This is an Auto-job choice, independent of Resources Keep PNG frame sequence and of the Auto quality profile. If you turn it off, successful video assembly removes intermediate frames and Clip Studio uses the MP4/video-file route.

Optional CPU preview scoring (off by default)

Expander Optional CPU preview scoring (off by default).

Enable CPU preview scoring before creation renders bounded tiny storyboards, rejects weak/blank choices, and avoids selecting near-duplicate sources when variety calls for diversity. (The Auto tab expander states it is off by default; turn it on when you want that filter.)

Build queue

Heading Build queue.

Rows report route and stage, completed/total frames, percentage, elapsed time, ETA when available, effective renderer/CPU/GPU/encoder resources, and current output or error.

Button Role
Cancel selected / Cancel all Stop Auto-owned jobs.
Clear finished Removes retained procedural jobs and releases their idempotency keys — not only a visual hide.
Retry selected Retry a retained finished/failed job.
Open in Compose Load the result as a composition.
Select in Render Highlight it on the Render tab.
Open output in Videos Jump to the clip in Video library.

Recovered jobs reappear here after restart. The durable queue is bounded to protect UI responsiveness and output determinism.

The Render tab mirrors Classic and procedural Auto jobs in Render activity as read-only. Auto is the only place to cancel, retry, or clear Auto-owned work.
