What's new
Several characters from the floating bar. Select two or more characters and the bar's Generate makes a take for each of them, in one go.
- Generate 3 Characters, or Generate 2 of 3 when one has no prompt. The tooltip says who is left out and why, and the hint above the bar offers your typed prompt to the ones without.
- Shared, beside Generate, gives every character the active one's prompts, each with its own seed: variations on one action, or a crowd. Off, each follows its own prompts, key poses and waypoints.
- While they're made, the working button says how many it's making.
- Then judge them together: Keep All, Redo All (failed characters go again too), a version button that flips the whole crowd, and Discard All. To keep or redo one character alone, use its row in the sidebar, which now uses the same words.
Fixes
- Ctrl+Z back to a Generate click no longer leaves the bar stuck on Cancel, and a batch's count ("0 of 2") no longer shows up on your next single take.
- Ctrl+Z after Discard All brings a batch's takes back, as it does for a single take.
Full details in CHANGELOG.md.

What's new
Animatica Choreographer 1.0. The add-on formerly called Animatica for Blender makes the motion and shows it: prompts and blocks, key poses, waypoints and pins, Generate, Redo, versions, Loop, In Place, Copy/Paste Motion, and the ghosts of your key poses. It includes everything from the 0.7.0 previews.
- Posing and editing by hand are now Animatica Marionette, a separate add-on. That covers the Autopose tool, the handle picker, the onion skin, the motion trail, the zoetrope, Lock in Place, the reach of an edit, and Edit Root Trajectory. With Marionette installed, its tools appear on the bar and in the panels. Without it, you key poses the usual way, or with Pose This Frame in Words.
- Copy Motion / Paste Motion. Copy keys off one character and paste them onto another: Animatica Cloud retargets the motion onto the new skeleton (Mixamo, custom skeletons, Rigify). Signed in, no generations used. Fingers aren't transferred yet.
- Every key pose is a ghost again, tinted by its block and labelled with its frame.
- A locked block shows it's locked: darker, framed, with a padlock.
- Fixes: Discard brings the ghosts back to your motion; ghosts keep up with keys you delete, move or retime; Rigify rigs read as one skeleton.
Settings that moved to Marionette (Reach, Intensity, the onion skin's, the zoetrope's, the trail's) open with Marionette's defaults in older files. Locks keep working.

Animatica for Blender 0.7.0 — preview 3
Third preview of 0.7.0. Install the zip below in Blender (Edit → Preferences → Add-ons → Install from Disk).
What's new since preview 2
- No Accept. A take is yours when it arrives. While you judge it the bar offers Redo, Key This Frame, the variations and Discard (and Generate while blocks are left to make). Your first fine-tuning edit keeps the take and locks its blocks, without turning your tweaks into key poses.
- Loop is on the bar, beside Generate. In a loop the zoetrope is a ring: a drum seen from above, standing behind the character, each slice spun in place so a walk turns round you. Edits on a loop reach round the seam and keep the cycle closed.
- The wormhole is now the Zoetrope.
- Generate Pose. The button inside the prompt field switches the field to this frame's pose in words, and Generate becomes Generate Pose.
- The reach tile (Reach · Intensity) is docked in the bar; the plain onion skin follows the Reach too.
Fixes
- Ghosts no longer stay on screen after the character is deleted.
- A character standing on a lower roof is no longer taken for a jump by the Autoposer.
Preview build: expect rough edges. Feedback welcome.
Animatica for Blender 0.7.0 — preview 2
Second preview of 0.7.0. Install the zip below in Blender (Edit → Preferences → Add-ons → Install from Disk).
What's new since preview 1
- One floating bar, in the order of the work. Set keys → Generate → Accept → fine-tune, left to right. The Pose / Motion modes (and Alt M) are gone: everything is on one bar.
- Pose a frame in words from the prompt field. The button inside the field switches it to this frame's pose, and Generate becomes Generate Pose (Enter works too). Click it again to go back to the take.
- The Autopose tool. The Autoposer's handles on your character, no control rig: drag, G and R with axis locks, the move gizmo, Ctrl-click on/off, Add Handle for elbows and knees.
- Onion skins and the wormhole. Ghosts of the motion around the frame, drawn during playback too; the wormhole spreads them into a tunnel through time with the motion trail running through it. Ghosts can be posed where they are.
- Edits carry through time. Drag or turn a handle and the frames around follow with a falloff. Reach and Intensity are a small curve on the bar: drag it sideways or up and down. Ghosts and trails re-pose live while you edit.
- Fine-tuning an accepted take adds no keyframes. Edits reshape the take where it is keyed; the live preview shows exactly what you will get.
- Next-step hints above the bar, ending with "Fine-tune it" once a take is accepted.
Fixes
- A jump frame no longer flips the body when posed (the floor sits under an airborne pose), and the Autoposer's own small bias no longer jumps in on the first move.
- Ghosts no longer stay on screen after the character is deleted.
Preview build: expect rough edges. Feedback welcome.
0.7.0-preview1 — early preview build
First preview of 0.7.0. Install the .zip in Blender 5.0+ (Preferences → Add-ons → Install). Preview builds already installed will offer it in the sidebar; a release build offers it with Include previews ticked.
What's new
- A floating toolbar in the viewport. The tools you use most while animating, as icons along the bottom: step between key poses, the Autoposer, Describe a pose, Set Key and Auto Key, Waypoint and Pin, the prompt under the playhead, Generate (Accept, Redo, variations and Reject while a take waits), the ghosts, and the model — click it to pick another or change the server. Anything the connected model can't do is greyed out.
- Lock a block to keep its motion. Accept keeps the take as your own action, keys you can edit, and locks the blocks it covered. Generate and Redo leave a locked block alone and make the blocks next to it run into it. Work through a sequence a block at a time; unlock one (right-click it, or the padlock in the sidebar) to make it again. Takes no longer go onto the NLA as one track per block.
- A handle picker for the Autoposer. Your character in T-pose with the Autoposer's handles on it: pick one or several (Shift), switch them on or off (or double-click one), set how strictly the pose keeps to them, remove them, or add one from the rings showing where the others would go.
- Drops to lower ground. A take follows the ground under the route, so a character can jump from one roof down onto another. Waypoints, the Autoposer and Describe stand on the ground (Describe: Stand on the ground, on by default).
- The timeline lane, redrawn. Blocks as tiles; the block under the playhead highlighted; frame numbers when you hover, select or drag. Key poses in a row above the blocks — drag one to move the pose, click to go there — and waypoints in a row below, drag to retime. New blocks are 50 frames long.
- Fixes: clicking blocks works with markers in the scene; a block can be shortened from the left where it meets another; no more stuck "Working…".
Known gaps: the game export now exports the whole sequence as one clip (per-block clips are next), and earlier takes aren't kept on the NLA to compare yet.

What's new
- A take lands where the server put it, whichever way the armature is turned. A character turned in object mode no longer walks backwards or at a skew: Generate, Regenerate Block, Pose and control rigs (Mixamo, Rigify) all place the motion in world space, and a pose you key on a turned rig goes out facing the way you see it.
- A Rigify rig moved or turned away from its metarig bakes where it stands. On a turned Rigify rig the neck may still twist and the forearms roll a little, from Rigify's follow settings.

What's Changed
Full Changelog: v0.6.2...v0.6.3
v0.6.2
What's new in 0.6.2
- The Autoposer works on your own rig. It finds the hips, spine, arms, legs and head from the skeleton's shape rather than its bone names, so Mixamo, Unreal and other humanoid characters get handles without renaming anything. Rigs in an A-pose, rigs exported Y-up or in centimetres, and rigs with extra spine or twist bones pose correctly.
- Skeleton, in the Pose panel, shows which bone plays each joint. If one is wrong, pick the right bone; the refresh button finds them all again.
- On a control rig (Rigify, the Mixamo or Unreal Control Rig) the Autoposer now says why it can't start, instead of starting and posing nothing.
Started the Autoposer on a non-SOMA rig with an earlier version? Its handles were built at the wrong size: import the character again, or remove the old handles, then press Start the Autoposer.

What's Changed
Full Changelog: v0.6.1...v0.6.2
Animatica 0.6.1
What's fixed in 0.6.1
- A take covers exactly your prompt blocks. Generate used to add about five frames of motion after your blocks (and up to five before them) that you never asked for. The Blend Between Blocks margin is now only used on a side where your own animation carries on past the blocks, so the take can blend into it.
- Regenerate Block on the last block no longer makes the take one frame longer.

Full Changelog: v0.6.0...v0.6.1
Animatica 0.6.0
What's new in 0.6.0
- Autoposer — drag a hand, a foot or the hips and the whole body follows. Optional: it runs on your machine after a one-off ≈225 MB download you start yourself.
- See and shape the plan — key poses as ghosts in the viewport, a motion trail you can drag to repose the body, Set Keyframe, and Waypoints for where the character stands.
- Variations — one Generate makes several versions of a take; flip between them and keep the one you like.
- Several characters at once, each with their own prompts or sharing one, reviewed per character.
- Loop and In place for games — seamless cycles, and In place now removes only the travel, keeping the hips' sway. Edit the root trajectory as a curve.
- Every take is kept on the NLA as its own named clip; your own action is stashed, never replaced.
- Safe by design — reviewing, saving mid-review and Reject can't lose your animation; updates roll back if a build fails to load; your session only goes to Animatica Cloud over HTTPS; nothing goes online unless Blender's Allow Online Access is on.
- Built-in updates, example scenes, Follow Selection, finger shapes.
