Datapack Jukebox Buffs
Pack type: Datapack · Location:
data/<namespace>/jukebox_songs/<name>.jsonPart of Customizing Create: Storage. New to datapacks? Start with Datapacks there.
When a music disc plays in a backpack with the Jukebox Upgrade, it gives the player mob effects ("buffs"). Each song's buffs come from one JSON file, so a datapack can give buffs to any disc, including discs from other mods, and change or remove the built-in ones.

|---|---|---|---|
song |
Yes | — | The jukebox song ID, from the minecraft:jukebox_song registry. This is not the disc's item ID; e.g. Music Disc 13 plays minecraft:13. See song IDs. |
player_only |
No | false |
true gives the buffs only from a worn backpack. A backpack placed as a block plays the song but gives no buffs. |
effects |

Each effect has:
| Field | Required | Default | Description |

Yes | — | A mob effect ID, from vanilla, Create: Storage or any other mod. See effect IDs. |
amplifier |

The effect level, counting from 0: 0 is level I, 1 is level II, and so on. |

Discs not listed here (Blocks, Chirp, 11, Creator) play without buffs until a datapack adds them.
Buffs are matched by the song field, and each song has only one set of buffs. The file's name and namespace
don't matter for matching. This means:
-
To change a built-in disc, override its file: use the same path in your datapack,
data/fxntstorage/jukebox_songs/<file from the table above>. Your file replaces the built-in one. -
To add buffs to a disc that has none, put a file anywhere under
jukebox_songs/, e.g.data/mypack/jukebox_songs/blocks.json. -
To remove a built-in disc's buffs, override its file with an empty
effectslist.
Don't give the same song a second file under a different path. Only one of the two is used, and which one is not predictable. Always override the built-in file instead.
Upgrading from 1.3.5 or earlier: the Music Disc 5 file was renamed from
five.jsonto5.jsonin 1.3.6. If your pack overridesdata/fxntstorage/jukebox_songs/five.json, rename your file to5.json. Otherwise both files are loaded for the same song.

}Worn backpack: the wearer gets the buffs with no time limit while the disc plays, like a beacon. They are removed as soon as the disc stops or is taken out.
Placed backpack: every player within range gets the buffs. The default range is 16 blocks, set by
jukeboxBuffRange. The buffs are refreshed every 2 seconds and last 6 seconds, so they wear off shortly after a player
walks out of range. A player who already has the same effect from a worn backpack keeps that one.
All buffs are ambient, with fewer particles like beacon effects, and show their icon in the HUD.
Server operators can turn the whole system off, or change the range, in the
jukebox_upgrade server config. When jukeboxBuffsEnabled is false, no
buffs are given no matter what datapacks contain.
-
A file has a JSON error: it is skipped and the error is logged in
latest.logon/reload. - The song or effect ID doesn't exist: nothing is logged. The disc simply gives no buffs (or skips that effect). Double-check the IDs against the tables below.
| Disc | Song ID |
|---|---|
| 13 | minecraft:13 |
| Cat | minecraft:cat |
| Blocks | minecraft:blocks |
| Chirp | minecraft:chirp |
| Far | minecraft:far |
| Mall | minecraft:mall |
| Mellohi | minecraft:mellohi |
| Stal | minecraft:stal |

| Creator | minecraft:creator |
| Creator (Music Box) | minecraft:creator_music_box |
For discs from other mods, use that mod's jukebox song ID. A mod's songs are defined in its
data/<namespace>/jukebox_song/ folder, and the file name is the ID.
Create: Storage adds these effects, which are only useful from Jukebox buffs:
| Effect ID | Name | What it does |
|---|---|---|
fxntstorage:repel_creepers |
Repel Creepers | Creepers run away and won't target the player |
fxntstorage:pacify_piglins |
Pacify Piglins | Piglins don't attack on sight, as if the player wore gold |
fxntstorage:calm_endermen |
Calm Endermen | Endermen don't get angry when looked at (they still fight back if hit) |
fxntstorage:phantom_ward |
Phantom Ward | Phantoms break off their swoop before they reach the player |
Any vanilla effect works too, e.g. minecraft:speed, minecraft:haste, minecraft:strength,
minecraft:jump_boost, minecraft:regeneration, minecraft:resistance, minecraft:fire_resistance,
minecraft:water_breathing, minecraft:night_vision, minecraft:slow_falling, minecraft:luck,
minecraft:absorption, minecraft:invisibility and minecraft:hero_of_the_village.
