Storage Boxes

Compact, filterable containers built to sit on Create production lines.

Tier Slots
Cardboard 48
Industrial Iron · Weathered Iron 60
Andesite 84
Copper 108
Brass 132
Hardened 156
  • Filter: a Create filter slot controls which items can go in or come out.
  • Front display: shows the item count and how full the box is. An indicator light shows full, empty, or void mode.
  • Void mode: right-click the box with a Wrench to toggle it. Extra items are deleted once the box is full.
  • Quick insert: click the box with items to insert them without opening it.
  • Opening: sneak-click with an empty hand to open the GUI.

Every tier is mined with a pickaxe (Cardboard also with an axe) and can be picked up with a Wrench.

Simple Storage Boxes

High-capacity storage for a single item type, in every vanilla wood: Oak, Spruce, Birch, Jungle, Acacia, Dark Oak, Mangrove, Cherry, Bamboo, Crimson and Warped. Pale Oak and Poplar appear when VanillaBackport adds those woods, and modded woods are supported through Every Compat. All woods behave the same.

  • Capacity: 32 stacks of the stored item. That's 2,048 Oak Logs, 512 Ender Pearls, or 32 Water Buckets.
  • Filter: set automatically by the first item stored. Use a Wrench on an empty box to clear it.
  • Display: the front shows the stored item and its count. Wear Engineer's Goggles to see more about enchanted items, potions and trimmed armor (the simpleStorageBoxGoggleInfo client setting controls this).
  • Connected textures: with the simpleStorageBoxConnectedTextures client setting, boxes of the same wood (and optionally their Storage Trim) join into one seamless casing.
  • Opening: sneak-click with an empty hand to open the GUI.

Simple Storage Box upgrades

Upgrades go in the box's GUI and only work in Simple Storage Boxes.

Upgrade Effect
Capacity Upgrade Capacity Upgrade Doubles capacity. Up to 9 can be installed, for up to 16,384 stacks. One can only be removed while the items still fit without it
Compacting Upgrade Compacting Upgrade Compacts stored items into their highest tier (e.g. nuggets → ingots → blocks). Hold Ctrl and scroll, or hold Tab, to choose which tier the display shows
Void Upgrade Void Upgrade Deletes extra items once the box is full, so a farm never backs up

Simple Storage Network

Connect any number of Simple Storage Boxes into one network that players and automation can use from a single block.

Block Role
Storage Trim Conduit that links boxes to the network. Comes in every Simple Storage Box wood
Simple Storage Controller The network's hub. Players and automation insert and extract through it. Its light turns on once a box is connected
Simple Storage Interface An extra access point for automation only (hoppers, chutes, funnels). Needs a Controller on the network
Simple Storage Filtered Interface An Interface with a Create filter slot, to control exactly which items pass through

The Controller searches up to 32 blocks for connected boxes. The range and refresh rate are server config options, and blocks from other mods can join the network through the storage_network_block tag.

Reserve Barrel

A 27-slot barrel that always keeps some of its stock back.

  • Reserve slots: place items in the 9 slots of the top row and set a minimum amount for each.
  • Automation can only extract items above those minimums, so a tree farm or drill keeps the saplings or fuel it needs while the surplus flows on to connected inventories.
  • Players and Deployers can always take everything.
  • Void mode: right-click with a Wrench to toggle it.
