Getting Started
Applies to Player Activity View 0.0.0-beta.4 for Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge), and to the stable 26.x lines.
| Minecraft | 1.21.1, 26.1.2 or 26.2 |
| Loader | NeoForge, or Fabric on 26.2 |
| Java | 21 |
| Required mods | none |
Player Activity View has no dependency on any other mod. It works on a bare NeoForge or Fabric installation.
Drop the JAR in mods/ on whichever side you want it active on. That is the whole installation —
there is nothing to configure to make it work, and every default is sensible.
This one matters more than usual, because the mod is not symmetric.
| Install | What happens |
|---|---|
| Client only | You see everyone else's activity. Your own activity is not broadcast, so other players cannot see what you are doing. |
| Server only | The server broadcasts state, but a client without the mod has nothing to render it. Effectively does nothing. |
| Both | Everyone sees everyone. This is what most installations want. |
So the meaningful choice is client-only or both:
- Client-only is the privacy-respecting setup. Each player opts in for themselves and nobody else's activity is sent.
- Both is what you want on a co-op or small friends server where knowing who is AFK actually matters.
A server-only install is not useful on its own.
There is no in-world setup and no resource pack to accept. The mod works from the moment it loads.
Open any interface — your inventory is the easiest — and look at another player nearby. Within the configured distance, a small tilted panel appears in front of them showing what they have open.
If you want to test the typing indicator, open chat and start typing while another player is watching you.
/player_activity_view reloadJSON
Reloads the arm-adjustment table from
assets/player_activity_view/config/player_activity_view-item-arm-adjustments.json without
restarting. See Configuration.
In order of likelihood:
-
You are too far away. The default viewing distance is 10 blocks. Configurable server-side
as
distanceRequiredToShowGUIInfo. -
The detailed GUI option is off. Either your own
dontSendDetailedGUIInfois on, or the server disabled it. See Privacy. - It is not sending updates. By default only the initial GUI image is sent, not every change. See Configuration.
- Shaders are interfering. The mod ships its own GLSL shaders. See Compatibility.
Remove the JAR. It adds no blocks, items or data, so there is nothing to clean up and no world data to remove.
