Getting Started
Applies to Utility Core across both lines. Which one you have changes the install — see below.
| Minecraft | 26.1.2 or 26.2 |
| Loader | NeoForge |
| Java | 25 |
| Required mods | none |
This is the one thing to establish before anything else, because the answer changes the install.
The monolith was split in 2.0.0-beta.1. On this line you install only the modules you want:
| Module | Mod id |
|---|---|
| Utility Core Admin | utility_core_admin |
| Utility Core Fixes | utility_core_fixes |
| Utility Core QoL | utility_core_qol |
| Utility Core HUD | utility_core_hud |
Each is independent. Take Admin on a server and Fixes on a client and you have exactly that. See The Four Modules.
The original monolith, utility_core, containing everything: recipe resolution, the safety fixes,
chunk generation, spawn protection, server rules, and biome/dimension titles.
There is no 1.x build for 26.2. If you need the old single-mod experience on 26.2, that combination does not exist — use the modules.
Drop the JARs in mods/. No dependencies, no configuration required, nothing to set up.
Almost everything here is server-side. Installing a module on a dedicated server does the work; installing it on a client is only needed for the parts you see, like the recipe selector and the titles.
Which modules are worth having where:
| Module | Server | Client |
|---|---|---|
utility_core_admin |
yes | no |
utility_core_fixes |
yes — the crash guards | no |
utility_core_qol |
partly | yes — the recipe selector |
utility_core_hud |
no | yes |
Two ways, and both work:
- the in-game config menu, or
-
config/utility_core-common.tomldirectly.
See Configuration.
Two features do nothing until you provide something, and neither will tell you at startup:
-
Spawn Schematic needs your own
.schemfile. It is not bundled. Put it at<game-directory>/utility_core/spawn_schem/schematic_spawn.schemor the feature stays inert. -
Data Pack Folder needs a
<game-directory>/datapacksfolder with packs in it.
Both are off unless you set them up. See Features.
Utility Core adds no items, blocks or recipes, and stores no world data of its own. Removing the JARs leaves saves untouched.
Nothing to migrate — there is no world data. But note that on 26.2 you will be installing several JARs instead of one, and that the licence is MIT rather than All Rights Reserved.
Utility Core is by Stalking Dragons. The 1.x line is All Rights Reserved; the 26.2 line and its split modules are MIT. Biome/Dimension title logic is ported from Traveler's Titles by YUNGNICKYOUNG (LGPL-3.0).
