Configuration

Applies to Utility Nexus QoL 1.1.3 for Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge).

Two files, and why

<gamedir>/config/utility_nexus/qol/config.toml          # the Waystone Beam — CLIENT
<gamedir>/config/utility_nexus/qol/recipe-select.toml   # the Recipe Selector — COMMON

NeoForge does not allow two mod configs to share a filename, and these two specs are different types: the beam is CLIENT, the selector is COMMON. Hence two files.

That is worth knowing before you go looking for one file with everything in it. There isn't one.

Both are generated on first launch with defaults. Nothing needs changing.

config.toml — the Waystone Beam

Client-side.

[waystoneBeam]
enabled = true
beamHeightBlocks = 100
colorRed = 80
colorGreen = 200
colorBlue = 255
Option Default Range
enabled true —
beamHeightBlocks 100 1 – 1024
colorRed 80 0 – 255
colorGreen 200 0 – 255
colorBlue 255 0 – 255

See Waystone Beam.

On the height

The range goes to 1024 blocks, which is tall enough to be seen from most of a loaded world. That is right for a main hub and wrong for a base. If the beams are visible from further away than you want, lower beamHeightBlocks before anything else.

On the colour

The three channels are independent, 0–255 each. The default 80, 200, 255 is a pale blue.

If you want the vanilla beacon look, that is close to it. If you want your factions colour-coded, set the three channels directly.

recipe-select.toml — the Recipe Selector

Common, so the server honours it.

[recipeSelect]
enabled = true
Option Default
enabled true

One option. There is no per-container toggle, no maximum-results limit and no persistence setting — the selection is session-only by design. See Recipe Selector.

There are no commands

Worth repeating because it is unusual: this mod registers no commands at all. Everything is config-file driven.

Which side needs which file

File Type Who needs it
config.toml CLIENT Each client that wants beams.
recipe-select.toml COMMON The server, which syncs it.

If you install the mod on a server and no client has it, only the selector exists and does nothing, because nothing can render it.

Tuning

Symptom Change
Beams visible from too far Lower beamHeightBlocks
Beams not appearing at all Check Waystones is installed — it is gated twice, and logs why it disabled
Beam colour wrong colorRed / colorGreen / colorBlue are independent 0–255
Selector button not showing The recipes may genuinely not conflict; check [recipeSelect] enabled
Selector missing in a modded container That mod's crafting GUI is not integrated — see Compatibility
