Getting Started
Applies to Utility Nexus QoL 1.1.3 for Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge).
| Minecraft | 1.21.1 |
| NeoForge | 21.1.249 |
| Java | 21 |
| Required mods | none |
Drop the JAR in mods/. Both features are on by default, and each needs something different:
| Feature | Needs | Side |
|---|---|---|
| Waystone Beam | Waystones | client |
| Recipe Selector | nothing | server and client |
The mod loads and does nothing useful if you install it without Waystones — only the recipe selector will be active.
This mod has no commands. Everything is configured through the config files. If you are looking for
/unq or similar, it does not exist.
A vanilla-style beacon beam rising from every Waystones block in view. Purely visual, and entirely client-side — no server component at all.
Gated twice: by the config flag and by a runtime ModList check, so without Waystones it never
registers anything. See Waystone Beam.
When several recipes match the same ingredients, a swap-arrows button appears above the result slot. Click it, choose the result you wanted, and it crafts.
This is the one worth installing the mod for. See Recipe Selector.
Two files, which is unusual:
<gamedir>/config/utility_nexus/qol/config.toml # the beam (client)
<gamedir>/config/utility_nexus/qol/recipe-select.toml # the selector (common)
They are separate because NeoForge does not allow two mod configs to share a filename, and the two
specs are different types — one CLIENT, one COMMON.
Nothing needs changing. See Configuration.
Three mods are checked for at runtime and integrated with if present:
| Mod | What it gets |
|---|---|
| Waystones | The beam. Without it the feature does nothing. |
| Polymorph | Recipe selector compatibility. |
| Tom's Storage | Recipe selector compatibility. |
All three are optional and none is a hard dependency. See Compatibility.
Remove the JAR. No blocks, items, recipes or world data are added, so nothing needs cleaning up.
One thing to know: if you had recipe selections remembered, they are session-only, so there is nothing left behind to reset.
This mod is small enough to read in an evening — 15 classes. If you want to exercise the Waystone Beam
locally, the README explains that you need to drop waystones-neoforge-1.21.1 and
balm-neoforge-1.21.1 into libs/ yourself. They are git-ignored deliberately, because they are
not ours to redistribute.
