Release list
ACME HTTP Connector 0.2.1 / Certbot adapter 0.0.24
This corrective release hardens HTTP transport for challenge publication, cleanup and certificate deployment.
- Refuse all HTTP 3xx responses instead of following redirects or implicitly replaying mutations. Configure the final API URL directly.
- Close responses on both successful and failed requests.
- Update the Certbot adapter dependency to the corrected standalone core.
Packages: acme-http-connector==0.2.1 and certbot-httpreq==0.0.24. The repository tag follows the adapter version.
Validation: 52 unittest tests; Python 3.10/3.12 and Certbot 2.11/5.x CI; standalone core checks; real Pebble issuance, renewal and deployment with Certbot and Dehydrated, including invalid HTTP-01 rejection. HTML documentation is rebuilt with warnings treated as errors.
Changes: #11.
ACME HTTP Connector 0.2.0 / Certbot adapter 0.0.23
Certbot and Dehydrated through the same HTTP APIs
This release adds the acme-http-dehydrated HTTP-01 hook to the independent core. Dehydrated 0.7.2 can publish and clean single or chained challenges and deploy certificates without installing Certbot. Existing Certbot plugin names and configuration remain compatible.
Installation
- Dehydrated / library:
python -m pip install --upgrade acme-http-connector==0.2.0 - Certbot adapter:
python -m pip install --upgrade certbot-httpreq==0.0.23
See the Dehydrated guide, Certbot guide, and configuration reference.
Validation and documentation
50 unittest cases are collected and pass. Real Pebble HTTP-01 checks cover issuance, renewal, API deployment, cleanup and invalid challenges with Certbot 2.11/5.x and Dehydrated 0.7.2. The core is also tested without Certbot. Both PyPI descriptions have been updated; HTML documentation is rebuilt before publication. The user README no longer includes maintainer publishing instructions.
HTTP-01 only. Local integration tests do not validate every production CA/API or the certificate subsequently served by a TLS endpoint. Failed API batches stop without automatic retry or rollback.
Packages become available after the publishing workflow completes.
PyPI documentation refresh — core 0.1.1 / Certbot 0.0.22
Documentation-only release.
- Redesign both PyPI descriptions with package badges, capability tables, short installation instructions and three-step quick starts.
- Give certbot-httpreq a dedicated PyPI description, separate from repository maintainer instructions.
- Add direct documentation, source, issue tracker and changelog links.
- Verify Markdown rendering and package metadata.
Packages: acme-http-connector 0.1.1 and certbot-httpreq 0.0.22. Runtime behavior is unchanged.
ACME HTTP Connector 0.1.0 / Certbot adapter 0.0.21
First independent acme-http-connector package.
- acme-http-connector 0.1.0 provides HTTP-01 challenge publication, cleanup and certificate deployment without depending on Certbot.
- certbot-httpreq 0.0.21 becomes a thin adapter and installs the core automatically. Existing plugin names, command-line options, YAML configuration and environment variables are retained.
- Python 3.10+; Certbot 2.11–5.x.
- 32 regression tests pass with both tested Certbot versions; the core is also tested without Certbot installed.
Install the core with pip install acme-http-connector, or upgrade the Certbot adapter with pip install --upgrade certbot-httpreq.
The core is an HTTP API connector, not an ACME protocol client. Additional ACME client adapters remain planned. No live certificate issuance was performed during release validation.
ACME HTTP Connector 0.0.20
Maintenance release under the new ACME HTTP Connector project name. The PyPI package remains certbot-httpreq.
- Fix cleanup timeout/TLS settings, accumulated challenge query parameters and environment value parsing.
- Preserve explicit false settings and report invalid HTTP methods as failures.
- Restore compatibility with modern Certbot interfaces and historical qualified plugin names.
- Fix isolated packaging, optional certificate chains and shared header mutation.
- Default HTTP timeout: 30 seconds; TLS verification enabled by default.
- Add documentation, roadmap, regression tests and Trusted Publishing.
Requirements: Python >=3.10 and Certbot/ACME >=2.11,<6. Python 2 and older Certbot releases are no longer supported. Only the Certbot adapter is implemented in this release.
Validation: 21 tests on Certbot 2.11 and 5.8, plugin discovery/preparation, isolated wheel and sdist builds.
Install after the publishing workflow completes:
python -m pip install --upgrade certbot-httpreq==0.0.20
