Troubleshooting

Interface is unstyled or shows the old theme

php artisan view:clear
php artisan config:clear
php artisan route:clear
php artisan queue:restart

Restart PHP-FPM, purge reverse-proxy/CDN caches, and hard-refresh the browser. Confirm public/assets/manifest.json and compiled asset files exist.

The installer says the archive is not gzip data

This usually means the download returned an error page instead of the release asset. Use curl -fL, confirm that a latest release exists, download the checksum, and verify it before extraction. The manager performs these checks automatically.

Permission or write errors

chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/pterodactyl
find storage bootstrap/cache -type d -exec chmod 755 {} +
find storage bootstrap/cache -type f -exec chmod 644 {} +

Use the correct web-server account for your distribution. Do not make the whole panel world-writable.

Blank page or rendering error

Check:

cd /var/www/pterodactyl
tail -n 150 storage/logs/laravel-$(date +%F).log
php artisan about
php artisan migrate:status

Also inspect the browser console and failed network requests. Redact tokens, addresses, and personal data before sharing logs.

Settings save but disappear

Verify that database migrations are current and the queue worker was restarted. Check Laravel logs for validation or database failures. Environment values are fallbacks; admin-saved values are stored in the panel database.

Console background does not load

• Confirm the local path is under public/ and begins with /.
• Confirm a remote URL uses HTTPS and allows embedding.
• Check the file's MIME type and browser media support.
• Test a static image before a large video.
• Keep visibility above zero and hard-refresh after saving.

Mobile overlay, menu, or navigation problem

Test the latest release in a private window without browser extensions. Include the device, browser version, viewport dimensions, orientation, route, and a screen recording or screenshot in the bug report.

Follow Security and Support and include the smallest reliable reproduction. Pterodactyl, Wings, node, egg, and game-server configuration belongs in the upstream Pterodactyl support channels.
