@github-actions github-actions released this 16 Oct 07:04

6.10.0-pre

Added

  • First-run interactive tutorial — new users get a 1-minute guided tour covering setup, the Store tab, download sources with key instructions, and the Downloads tab, using a fake demo game. Replay it from Settings.
  • Standalone install/uninstall scripts (scripts/) — one-line install from the latest release with a progress bar and --pre for beta builds; uninstallers prompt before deleting added games and LumaCore/SLSsteam, then sweep the app and its Steam-side entries.

Fixed

  • SLSsteam no longer installs without asking — startup now asks first instead of running headcrab mid-session.
  • DDMod downloads that fetched nothing no longer report success — empty install dirs fail with a real error instead of a false "Download complete".
  • Windows frozen auto-update works again — the missing safe_extract_zip import is fixed.
  • Fix Game picks the right Linux mode from the folder contents instead of depending on the caller.
  • Native downloader rejects wrong-depot manifests up front with a clear error instead of dying in AES decrypt.
  • Store search is ~3x faster — normalized names and search tokens are precomputed once at load.

v6.9.1

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Oct 17:08

6.9.1

Fixed

  • Steam can no longer wipe Linux installs with its Update button — the ACF lists only depots with manifests on disk, downloaded builds get pinned in SLSsteam ManifestIds, and installs that would not survive an update are flagged at Steam start.

Changed

  • LumaCore no longer uses dwmapi.dll — installs cover xinput1_4.dll, LumaCore.dll and LumaCorePayload.dll only, and leftover copies are removed automatically.

@github-actions github-actions released this 08 Oct 09:41

6.9.0

Fixed

  • SteaMidra no longer hangs on startup when it needs to install or update SLSsteam. The install runs in the background instead of freezing the window.
  • The window responds immediately at startup — the update check no longer freezes it while waiting on GitHub.
  • The Patch Gaming Mode button now shows on all Linux systems, not just SteamOS, so CachyOS, ROG Ally and similar handhelds can use it.
  • Unnamed depots in the picker show Depot <id> instead of repeating the game name on every row.
  • Old depots that store chunks as ZIP (Assassin's Creed and others) now download correctly on the built-in downloader.
  • The depot file list tries LuasTools and the GitHub mirrors before Hubcap, so it works without a Hubcap key.
  • Overall download progress never jumps backwards when switching depots.
  • The app shows as SteaMidra in the system monitor instead of python, with correct dock grouping.
  • New Linux installs no longer show Content still encrypted (e.g. Celeste) — install manifests are written back into the ACF.

Changed

  • LumaCore installs and updates now come from drappula/LumaCore (V37+) instead of the inactive upstream repo.
  • Manifest downloads try LuasTools first, then the GitHub mirrors, then ManifestHub.
  • The invalid-key popup has a red Remove Key button that clears the saved key so the provider falls back to Free Providers.

Improved

  • Lower idle RAM: store metadata and the depot-key database load on first use instead of at startup (around 650 MB idle instead of 1 GB).

v6.8.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Sep 02:02

6.8.0

New

  • SteaMidra checks your Hubcap, Ryuu and DepotBox keys shortly after launch and whenever a download uses them. A dead key shows a dialog with the provider's site, and that provider stops auto-selecting until you save a working key.
  • Games no longer auto-update by default on Windows: the manifest-pin helper is installed at startup, so added games stay on their pinned version. Remove it any time in Auto Update Games.
  • The Store opens instantly. Its first page is fetched in the background at startup, and your results are kept when you switch tabs.
  • After a Steam update, once SteaMidra fills the LumaCore pattern cache it offers to restart Steam right away so the patterns load.

Changed

  • The first download after opening SteaMidra is far faster. Free Providers used to spend up to a minute re-parsing the depot-key database and probing manifest mirrors one at a time; the database is now warmed in the background at startup, mirrors are tried in parallel, and a Lua with only lost manifest files gets just those files re-seeded.
  • Store search is several times faster; typing no longer re-cleans all 200k game names per query.
  • Manifest fetches try the GitHub mirrors before ManifestHub, so the API-key prompt no longer interrupts a download a free source can finish. The dead public GMRC mirrors are gone.
  • Windows installer builds take about seven minutes less. The installer is 150 MB larger as the trade.
  • Ryuu links open the key generator directly, and the key dialogs say to log in first: the key shows up as "auth_key" only after signing in.
  • Settings has a "Download Speed Limit" box that caps the built-in downloader's rate (0 = no limit). It does not apply to Steam/LumaCore or DepotDownloaderMod downloads.
  • On Linux, SLSsteam installs run the Headcrab script, which keeps the Steam client at a version the injection supports. The background update check won't install while Steam is running.
  • The Steam Updates tile on the Home tab works on Linux too. Turning client auto-updates back on is one click, not a steam.cfg edit.
  • Linux Setup and the hash fix ask before closing a running Steam client, so they never kill a game mid-session.
  • Finishing a download no longer asks whether to enable auto-updates for that game. Set them per game in Auto Update Games, or for all new games in Settings.
  • The Free Providers name replaces the old MidraEveryDay handle everywhere in the UI and docs.

Fixed

  • Photo themes (Dawn, Dusk, Flow, Lake, Midnight City, Snow) no longer flash at startup and vanish.
  • Deleting a game with "delete files" also drops its manifests from depotcache and the staging folder, so a reinstall can't resurrect the old pin.
  • When the chosen source doesn't have a game, SteaMidra says so and offers to fall back to Free Providers, instead of looping "enter a new API key" or failing quietly. If no provider has it, a dialog points to the providers' Discords to request the game.
  • Ryuu premium-key and DepotBox Lua files no longer arrive without their manifest files, so Steam starts pulling files instead of idling at zero.
  • A download interrupted by rate limits left a partial Lua behind, and every retry reused it: the game appeared added and nothing downloaded. Cached Free Providers Lua files are now verified and refetched when keys or manifests are missing.
  • Windows downloads use LumaCore again instead of the built-in downloader. If registration fails because Steam holds the files locked, the download says so instead of claiming the game is in your library.
  • Downloads no longer stall on "Parsing Lua..."; the already-registered check reads one file instead of re-scanning everything.
  • The pattern cache prewarm no longer misses patterns that exist; the "No cached LumaCore support data" banner clears once the current build is covered.
  • Ryuu downloads work for games without a public branch; the old route 404'd on most games.
  • Recently Updated shows real dates again, sorted by Steam's last-modified stamp.
  • The startup tray message no longer claims the app is running in the tray while its window is open.
  • Pressing Enter in the log viewer no longer clears it.
  • The "✓ Saved" marker on stored API keys sits over the input field instead of covering the Save/Test buttons.
  • The Store's loading placeholder matches the real card grid instead of a strip of thin bars.

v6.6.7d

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 10 Sep 13:02
0c02abc

6.6.7d

New

  • A new default download source, "Free Providers". It chains the keyless providers in priority order: trionine ManifestHub, the revobd bundle (which ships real manifest files), and the ManifestHub / ManifestHub3 GitHub repos. Any manifests it finds get saved straight into depotcache, so the next download and the depot file list open instantly. This replaces MidraEveryDay, which could only supply keys.
  • An Advanced link next to Depot OS opens a depot picker with checkboxes, OS and size columns, and a SteamDB link. Picking depots adds a Custom Depot OS option and downloads exactly those depots.
  • Inside the depot picker, a folder icon next to each depot name opens a file explorer: the depot's full folder tree with sizes and a checkbox per entry, so you pick exactly which files download. Your selection is remembered when you reopen it, the "(N selected)" count includes every file in picked folders, and changing a selection ticks that depot automatically. Works on both engines: the native downloader filters at chunk level, DepotDownloaderMod gets a generated -filelist.
  • Download sources now auto-select based on your saved keys: if you have a Hubcap key the pickers open on Hubcap, and the same for Ryuu or DepotBox. No keys means Free Providers.
  • Store cards show "Updated: 3 hours ago" instead of a raw timestamp, with the exact date on hover.

Fixed

  • Opening the depot file explorer could hang forever on "Reading depot manifest...". Two causes: the result signal was never forwarded to the page, and the fetch could chain minutes of invisible retries. It now reads the local cache first and pulls provider bundles on a miss, and it tells you exactly which depot failed if one does.
  • Free Providers used to "succeed" with an empty Lua when the game wasn't in the key database. It now falls through to the next provider instead.
  • Saving a Hubcap key froze the window while the key was verified online. Same for the Google Drive status check; it is now capped at 2 seconds.
  • Web UI changes sometimes didn't take effect after a restart because the browser engine served stale cached scripts. Local scripts and stylesheets now bypass that cache completely.
  • The Depot OS default no longer offers "Auto"; it preselects your current OS so what you see is what downloads.
  • The download speed meter measured decompressed bytes written, reading 2-4x your real line speed on compressed depots. It now measures what actually came off the CDN.
  • DDMod exits successfully even when it never resolved a manifest, so a depot that wrote zero bytes was reported as a success. It is now marked failed, and the failing depot is named in the Downloads tab.
  • Re-downloading a game right after deleting it kept showing the old "Done" row while the new download ran invisibly. A new run now takes over its old row, and failures keep their error text visible.
  • If no manifest existed anywhere for a game, the download quietly finished with 0 files. It now stops with a clear "no manifest is available yet" error.
  • Crack Files on Windows could report "Game install folder not found" when Steam's main folder wasn't listed in libraryfolders.vdf. The lookup now checks the Steam root.
  • Version downloads reported "Complete" even when the pipeline aborted before downloading anything.
  • When Steam rejects the bundled web API key, the Store list update now falls back to GitHub mirrors instead of erroring.

Improved

  • Windows downloads run the same pipeline as the Store tab: SteaMidra downloads the files itself instead of handing off to Steam, no more "add to library and press Update". LumaCore still gets the Lua so Steam accepts the install.
  • The Ryuu "File type" picker is gone; the download dialog always uses the ZIP bundle.
  • Downloaded manifests stay in depotcache so Steam can use them for Verify integrity and repair.
  • CDN timeout warnings now log the Steam connection state, so a stale login is identifiable in debug.log instead of looking like a dead CDN.

v6.6.7c

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 08 Sep 02:31

6.6.7c

Fixed

  • Some games use the same ID for the game itself and one of its depots. This confused depot resolution and could stop the right files from being found or downloaded.
  • After a Native or DDMod download finished, Steam could still show the game's install size as 0 and prompt for an update, even though the download completed correctly.
  • Access tokens listed in a game's lua weren't being saved to SLSsteam's config.yaml, even though they were read correctly.
  • The Downloads tab's progress bar looked frozen while SFF checked already-downloaded files — the log kept showing "Verifying X/Y chunks" the whole time, but nothing moved on screen. It now updates in real time.
  • Removed the "pin this version" prompt shown after downloading an older version, since it wasn't reliable. The correct older version still installs either way.
  • The Downloads tab could show the wrong "via [source]" label for a game that was already queued from a different source.

v6.6.7b

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 07 Sep 20:37

6.6.7b

New

  • You can now pause and resume downloads. Every active download has a Pause button next to Cancel. Pausing parks the downloader mid-chunk, so resuming continues instantly. Paused downloads survive an app or PC restart and pick back up at their real percentage.
  • The Downloads tab is reworked: each row is a card with the progress filling its background, and one entry per game moves between Active Downloads, Download Queue, and History instead of showing up twice.
  • When a source doesn't have the game, you now get a Pick Source / Cancel dialog instead of a progress bar that never moves.
  • LumaCore patterns download from the new MigoReleases repository.
  • Patch Gaming Mode now also enables SafeMode in SLSsteam's config, so a Steam client update disables SLSsteam instead of crashing Steam.

Fixed

  • The progress percentage now covers depot downloads only: 0% until the first depot starts, 100% when all depots are fully downloaded. It counts bytes instead of chunks and weighs each depot by its size, so the bar and the "X / Y MB" line finally agree.
  • DLC luas that list base-game depots no longer crash DDMod with exit -6; each depot downloads under the app that grants access to it.
  • Games whose lua filename isn't an app ID (e.g. Sledding Game) install correctly and show their real name in the Downloads tab and History.
  • Corrupt manifest files (CDN error pages saved as .manifest) are rejected instead of breaking later downloads.
  • A cancelled download no longer reports "Added to library" or shows up as Completed in history.
  • Removing a game could corrupt SLSsteam's config.yaml by deleting unrelated lines; all config writes are now bounded to their own section.
  • Installing or removing a game's Lua closes Steam first on Linux, since SLSsteam doesn't reliably reload plugins while Steam is running.
  • The Gaming Mode patch backup now lands at /usr/bin/steam-jupiter.bak, where the docs said it would.

v6.6.7a

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 06 Sep 20:55

6.6.7a

New

  • The Store tab now defaults to a Popular sort, built from Steam's top-selling chart (cached for 24 hours, falls back to recently-updated when offline).
  • The Download Older Version box now searches by manifest GID (selects the matching archived row) or by build ID (downloads that build directly). Archived rows show the first digits of their GID.
  • Older-version downloads ask which library to install to when you have more than one.
  • Settings can inject SLSsteam into Gaming Mode on SteamOS / Steam Deck (/usr/bin/steam-jupiter), not just Desktop Mode.
  • Downloads can be cancelled while running, with an option to delete the partial files.

Fixed

  • Older-version downloads now show the real game name instead of "App 1234567", never ask you to type a name, show live depot progress like normal installs (including through the DDMod backup engine), and register with SLSSteam so Steam shows Play instead of Purchase.
  • Build-ID downgrade works on Linux: it no longer claims to be Windows-only, fetches a missing Lua automatically, and closes Steam around the config writes.
  • Native downloads are fast again. The CDN server list was silently ignored and chunks were spread across every server, so slow hosts dominated (53 KB/s while DDMod hit 12 MB/s on the same list). Servers are now latency-probed and only the top 4 are used.
  • Cover images for new releases (Steam moved them to hashed paths, so the old URLs 404'd). The Store tab now resolves the real cover URLs in batches.
  • Downgrading a game no longer restarts Steam when the download finishes.
  • Goldberg config tools no longer crash when launched from the app (the frozen build leaked PYTHONHOME into the child process).

v6.6.7

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 05 Sep 11:59

6.6.7

Fixed

  • Fixed Linux DDMod downloads hanging for minutes on a flaky CDN, writing game files without execute permission, and showing games at 0B in Steam after a failed install.
  • Fixed the download flow never actually closing Steam on Linux (it looked for the Windows process name), which left depot key writes locked.
  • Fixed the "Local file" download source importing manifests without downloading the game.
  • Proton-only games (no Linux depot, e.g. The Binding of Isaac) now download the Windows depots with the Windows file filter, so they launch through Proton instead of installing an empty folder.
  • Fixed the DRM badge showing on nearly every Store game after a games.json refresh stripped the DRM data.
  • Fixed the Downloads tab: the row now appears the moment a download starts, progress shows downloaded/total MB with speed and the depot name instead of freezing at 35%, the bar climbs steadily across all depots instead of snapping back between them, completed downloads leave the Active section, and "Clear finished" actually clears the history.
  • Fixed Lure Fix and Update showing duplicate toasts, the tray menu having two quit entries, and the Remove Game dialog descriptions overflowing their buttons.
  • Fixed launch options and Online Fix edits being silently overwritten by Steam on Linux.
  • Fixed cloud save detection scanning the wrong folders on Linux.
  • Fixed games whose Lua lists depots before the base app (e.g. Katana ZERO) being registered under a depot ID and showing as "App ..." instead of the real name.
  • Fixed newly shipped DLCs missing from the DLC check list (e.g. Elden Ring Tarnished Pack) because cached app info never refreshed.
  • Fixed Hubcap outages and connection problems being reported as "API key rejected"; the error now says whether the key was actually rejected or Hubcap was just unreachable.

Improved

  • Linux builds are about 104 MB smaller; Windows-only tools are no longer bundled.
  • Steam closes faster at the start of a download. Note: Steam stays closed when the download finishes, so restart it (the "Restart Steam" button injects SLSsteam) to see the new game as owned.
  • The release workflow no longer requires Google Drive credentials.
