This page used to describe page breaks and page numbering on its own. That material is now part of the generated reference pages:
- Page numbering: formats (arabic, roman, letters, Chinese, Arabic-Indic, …), starting values, PDF page labels → Numbering and Numbering format spellings.
-
Breaks before headings and their parity (
odd,even,always-odd,always-even), with blank pages → Break before. -
Forced breaks in the text:
:::pagebreak, with its parity attribute, blank-page ownership and the document-start exception. -
Numbering resets in the text, for roman front matter followed by arabic chapters:
:::numbering. - Books of several chapters: page numbers and parity carry from one chapter to the next → Books and chapters.
-
Running heads and folios: the
{pageNumber}placeholder and the rest → Headers & footers.
