🧩 Addons & Extensions Guide

Flux features full compatibility with the open Stremio Addon Protocol. Any community, official, or self-hosted Stremio addon can be installed directly into Flux with zero modification.

1. How to Install Addons in Flux

Flux supports two convenient methods for installing extensions:

Method A: One-Click Deep Links (Recommended)

  1. Find any Stremio addon link in your web browser (e.g. on community directories like stremio-addons.netlify.app).
  2. Click the Install button. The link will begin with stremio:// (e.g. stremio://torrentio.strem.fun/manifest.json).
  3. Flux will automatically open a confirmation modal showing the addon’s name, version, and description.
  4. Click Install Addon to activate it instantly.

Method B: Manual Manifest URL

  1. Copy the addon's manifest URL (ending in manifest.json).
  2. In Flux, open Settings (⌘,) → Addons.
  3. Scroll to Install Custom Addon, paste the URL into the input field, and click Install.

2. Types of Addons

Addon Category Purpose Examples
Catalog Addons Adds new discovery rails, genres, and specialized lists to the sidebar and Home screen. Cinemeta, Anime Kitsu, CyberFlix Catalog, YouTube
Stream Providers Discovers available torrent swarms and direct streams for movies and TV episodes. Torrentio, MediaFusion, Comet, KnightCrawler
Debrid Bridges Connects to cloud download services (Real-Debrid, Premiumize, AllDebrid) for instant cached HTTP streaming without P2P seeding. Torrentio (Debrid mode), Comet (Debrid mode)
Subtitle Providers Automatically queries and synchronizes subtitles in your preferred languages. OpenSubtitles v3, SubSource
Live TV & IPTV Adds live television channels, sports feeds, and news broadcasts right into the Flux sidebar. IPTV-org

3. Configuring Installed Addons

Many community addons (especially stream indexers and debrid providers) offer custom filters, exclusion rules, and API key setups.

  1. Open Settings (⌘,) → Addons.
  2. Locate the addon in your Installed Addons list.
  3. Click the Gear icon (⚙️) next to the addon.
  4. Flux will launch your default browser with the addon’s configuration portal pre-populated with your current settings.
  5. Make your changes in the browser, click Install, and Flux will update the configuration seamlessly.

4. Managing & Uninstalling Addons

  • Toggle Enable / Disable: Use the switch on the right-hand side of any addon to temporarily disable it without losing its configuration.
  • Uninstall: Click the Trash Can icon to completely delete the addon from Flux and remove its catalogs from your sidebar.
  • Cloud Sync: All installed addons sync automatically with your Flux account across all your Macs.
